Duties

The Operation Allies Welcome (OAW), Unified Coordination Group (UCG) has been leading the whole-of-nation effort to welcome our Afghan allies and care for them while we help them resettle and integrate into communities across America. The EAO is responsible for developing and releasing information about the incident to the news media, incident personnel, and other agencies and organizations. The EAO provides support and advice to the Senior Response Official involving communications with external audiences in accordance with incident objectives. The EAO is responsible for the coordination of federal communications with state and local communication efforts through the integration and, if needed, the establishment and oversight of OAW.

Responsibilities:
· Oversee all internal and external communications material and strategy for the OAW.
· Support the Senior Response Officer (SRO) with all internal and external stakeholders, including OPA, OPE, and OLA.
· Manage OAW responses (briefs, fact sheets, papers, etc.) to internal and external requests.
· Assist the SRO with collaborating with key stakeholders and other offices on all OAW engagement activities.
· Manage OAW reports for senior leadership. Lead for drafting and roll out of External Affairs Engagement and daily media analysis reports and other reports as directed by the White House.
· Lead for the development and execution of the OAW strategic communication plan with OPE.
· Develop communications strategy and manage plan to publish information, briefings, etc. on OAW website and other communication platforms.
· Lead to ensure consistency in data, messaging, and all communication to stakeholders, in coordination with all Unified Coordination Group interagency.
· Lead for engagement with base External Affairs staff at the bases

Requirements

  • Must be a current Department of Homeland Security employee
  • Must have supervisory approval to apply to the Joint Duty Assignment.
  • Must NOT have any pending/outstanding disciplinary actions
  • Must have achieved a minimum of "meet expectations/proficiency" on latest performance appraisal/evaluation
  • Must be currently at the grade level of the detail. *No Temporary Promotion Opportunity*
  • The program does not apply to members of the Military service or contractors.
