Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Respiratory Therapy Education Specialist for our NICU Department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a NICU Respiratory Therapy Education Specialist you will:
• Provide direct supervision in the NICU for Respiratory services
• Be competent on all new respiratory research, data, and metrics standards.
• Need to be an active member of AHC respiratory shared governance team
• Ensure all RTs are competent with NICU equipment and able to work independently in the NICU, including neonatal transport.
• Serve as a liaison between the RT department, Nursing Leadership and the Medical director of the NICU
• Attend and contribute to NICU multidisciplinary meetings as scheduled.
• Serve as a mentor to RT III preceptors.
• Ensure that all patient safety initiatives are being adhered to in the NICU.
• Ensure staff is competent on all modalities of respiratory therapies (Adult)
• Provide orientation/onboarding to new employees as well as ensuring on-call staff assignments are met. At times will serve as a Lead Therapist when education demands are met or on peak demand status.
• Support AHC nursing units with respiratory skills and hospital orientation when needed.

Qualifications include:
• Graduate of AMA approved respiratory program; Associates Degree required; Bachelor's preferred
• Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner (NBRC) license required
• Active Maryland State RRT license required
• Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience.
• Adult Critical Care experience a plus.
• Minimum 2 yrs supervisory/management experience required
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
• Must be willing to take PALS and ACLS if not already certified
*NPS or ACCS advanced certification is preferred or willing to attain within 1 year of hire.

Work Schedule:

Day Shift- 36 hours/week + rotation monthly call as needed.
