  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Possess experiences that provided an in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, policies, and procedures. Providing professional accounting services that ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the accounting operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); independently applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to evaluate and interpret accounting data, financial statements and reports, processes, accounting/financial systems, or effectiveness of internal controls; AND providing technical accounting expertise to assist in the design, implementation and assessment of operating systems, procedures, or internal control processes. Providing financial and management data through the use of advanced skills in Microsoft applications (excel, access, etc.) Applicants must have accounting or audit experiences and training that demonstrate his or her abilities to lead, train subordinates, follow directions, read, retain, and comply with instructions, regulations, policies and procedures

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

Have a degree in Accounting or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting and/or auditing. (The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law). OR

Have a combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. My background also includes one of the following: 1) 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality; or, 2) a certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination, or; 3) completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing.
