Duties

  • Utilize account tracking programs such as General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS)/ Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) to identify funds disbursements, commitments, and/or obligations.
  • Analyze work related to developing and executing audit policies and programs for the government credit card.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to travelers, authorizing officials, verifying officials, etc., regarding regulatory interpretations of travel regulations and debt collection procedures.
  • Serve as site coordinator for the Defense Travel System (DTS) of the organization.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-08 Level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) review requests by customers regarding travel for conferences; (2) coordinate with debt management office for the collection of traveler debts; AND (3) monitor unsettled traveler vouchers in compliance with organizational guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Accounting or Business Administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

GS-09 Level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) ensure each travel requests matches with organizational policies and procedures; (2) assist cardholders with financial institutions when resolving credit card problems or delinquent accounts; (3) refer customers to the appropriate guidelines concerning travel regulations and debt collection procedures; AND (4) input budget data on a continuous basis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

OR

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Accounting or Business Administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

GS-08 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

GS-09 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).

Education

  • This position may be scheduled to transfer to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) at a date to be determined in accordance with the provisions of Section 702 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017, Public Law 114-328. The Act directed the DHA to take responsibility for the administration (i.e., authority, direction, and control) of military treatment facilities beginning 1 Oct 18. Employees will become DoD employees upon transfer to the DHA.
  • This is a developmental position to the GS-09. You may be selected at the GS-08 or GS-09 level. Promotion to the full performance level is not guaranteed. You may be eligible for non-competitive promotion to the target position upon meeting time-in-grade restrictions and the following requirements:
    (1) Incumbent demonstrates ability to perform at target grade level;
    (2) Higher level work exists at target grade level;
    (3) Increased responsibilities are assigned;
    (4) Supervisor recommends promotion;
    (5) Incumbent completes all required training and conditions of employment, and;
    (6) Incumbent completes all regulatory requirements for career ladder promotions.
