Duties

  • Serve as the Special Security Officer (SSO), 93d Signal Brigade, Ft. Eustis, VA in support of HQ, 93d Signal Brigade, geographically dispersed subordinate units, and regionally supported elements on and around Ft. Eustis.
  • Ensure SCI policies and precedents established by the SSO meet the regulatory requirements of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the National Security Agency (NSA), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and Executive Orders (EOs).
  • Responsible for providing SCI regulatory oversight for all aspects of security for cognizant SCIFs and subordinate activities.
  • Provides direct operational, all-source intelligence support and production to the CONUS Network Service Centers.
  • Manage collateral security program tasks and projects as assigned by the Command Security Manager.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • Pursuant to EO 14043, all Federal employees, regardless of duty location or work arrangement, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entrance on duty, subject to exceptions as required by law.
  • If selected, the agency will provide information regarding what documentation is needed and how to request any legally required exceptions from this requirement.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Position is IT III.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) required up to 35% of the time. Inspection trips may require excessively long hours of work, and long distance travel. Occasional directed conveyance may be required.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: To qualify you must meet one year of specialized experience which includes performing wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices in order to review and resolve difficult and complex security problems relating to personnel, information, industrial, and physical security programs to support Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and collateral information security program management. NOTE: Creditable specialized experience may include previous military intelligence experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower grade in the series.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GG/GS-12.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security


Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
