Westat is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Specialist with proven analytical skills and a combination of strong organizational and communication skills to collaborate with team members and internal clients.  Your ability to navigate multiple tasks under tight deadlines will be a key part of this role.

Job Responsibilities:
• File workers' compensation claims in accordance with regulations and company policy.
• Work closely and communicate with supervisor, FMLA Coordinator, and other levels of staff regarding status of employee (as appropriate).
• Work closely with the company Counsel regarding cases that are in litigation. 
• Oversee administrative leave for claims that do not qualify for lost time benefit through workers' compensation insurance carrier.
• Coordinate Temporary Transitional Employment (TTE) programs 
• File and follow to resolution auto insurance claims, general liability and accidental death/dismemberment claims as needed.
• Generate wage statements and review timesheets.
• Complete annual workplace injury surveys for the Bureau of Labor Statistics; OSHA Logs, and Summaries on a timely manner. 
• Present worker's compensation information to new supervisors and assign safety training as required.
• Provide safety tips information for project personnel, and submit safety news items for the newsletter as appropriate.
• Assist with/ Provide data for corporate insurance renewals 
• Periodically review worker's compensation information on company intranet, policy, forms, and other materials, updating as needed. 
• Assist Sr. Benefits Specialist with day to day and/or benefits related projects. 
• And other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in workers' compensation, auto and liability claim management experience; or a HS diploma with 7+ years of experience in workers' compensation, auto and liability claim management experience. 
• Knowledge of OSHA record keeping and compliance requirements.
• Familiar with State Workers Compensation laws. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
• Experience with employee benefits administration. 
• Familiar with HRIS and payroll systems. 

Minimum Qualifications:
• Strong ability to build working relationships with brokers, insurance companies and employees. 
• High skills in handling confidential information
• Outstanding analytical, written and oral communication skills. 
• Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including advanced Excel skills with Vlookup and Pivot tables and PowerPoint presentations. 
• Experience in streamlining processes and converting paper files to electronic files.
