The Director of Product Management serves as strategic lead and provides oversight on AARP's consumer-facing digital initiatives from aarp.org, AARP Now mobile app and voice apps. This Director leads our product teams and drives the evolution of our product efforts to deliver differentiated consumer value aligned with our company's vision. This highly strategic role acts as thought leader for product management across the organization and has a consumer led focus to drive engagement across AARP. This includes collaborating across the organization and overseeing the strategy, planning, product development, prioritization and execution of our product portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Development, QA and Design while leading and managing a team to develop a coherent, well integrated product strategy with unique value in the market. Works extensively to ensure the vision is realized.
  • Guides both the product strategy and execution of the AARP products. Manages multiple products and priorities, setting quarterly product priorities and clear and measurable goals.
  • Collaborates as a key member of the Digital Integration leadership team to lead team members through ideation to technical development to deliver consumer value.
  • Manages, mentors and coach product managers, working closely with design, product operations and digital technology to deliver stunning and effective work, quickly, properly scoped and at a high level of quality.
  • Provides thoughtful product perspective in customer facing roles.
  • Owns product roadmaps for all the product teams. Defines roadmaps based on audience needs, impact on business goals and input from stakeholders and leadership. Supports high-level product strategy, ensuring we are asking the right questions and solving for distinct needs.
  • Cultivates culture of executional excellence and analytical rigor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading product management in consumer product or agency with at least 7 years of experience cultivating product teams and developing both individual contributors and senior leaders. MBA a plus.
  • Experience working and influencing effectively cross-functionally and building relationships across the organization.
  • Demonstrated track record as building exceptional consumer value through an intentional data driven process.
  • Demonstrated experienced as a hands-on operational leader who is able to execute against business objectives while growing and developing experienced professionals.
  • Motivated and independent thinker who excels in fast-paced environments with tenacious curiosity and the drive to set and execute on ambitious product goals. Experience with and a passion for user-centered design.
  • Proven ability to manage numerous projects concurrently. Must be solution-oriented and accustomed to making data driven decisions on a daily basis.
  • Must have ability to focus on the details while keeping the big picture view in mind.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
