AARP's Operations & Finance Group consists of Business Operations, Business Solutions & Analysis, Controller, Financial Planning and Analysis, Human Resources, Information Technology and Treasury all working together to tackle enterprise-wide operational needs.

The Manager, Business Operations manages business operations activities for a business unit or department. Provides administrative-level project management support for variety of projects, programs, and initiatives that are typically division-wide or organization-wide. Conducts research, creates, and facilitates presentations, tracks budgets and project/program activities, and collects and analyzes data to produce reports. Organizes and maintains electronic records and prepares and processes various forms. Collaborates with management to identify opportunities to streamline processes and develop new procedures that support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the financial operations support for internal clients; including but not limited to 1) the procure to pay processes and documentation, 2) the preparation, consolidation, and reporting on annual/quarterly/monthly financial (ex. month end, budgets, forecasts, variances, spend) and lobbying information for Finance and/or internal clients. This role includes the supports of the C-Suite financial operations.
  • Conducts research, facilitates meetings; and summarizes and presents complex information for different audiences.
  • Reviews and processes expense reports and/or invoices for internal clients in a timely manner and ensures accuracy of the documentation and that the correct process is followed. Performs invoice analysis to identify errors, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost savings. Follows up with vendors and Accounts Payable to solve any payment issues.
  • Ensures organization wide processes and policy compliance is disseminated, implemented, and supported for internal clients.
  • Manages a highly effective team and may delegate responsibilities to ensure high quality work is delivered.
  • Analyzes current processes and systems; and develops, tests, implements improvement initiatives and documents.
  • Supports internal clients on group or organization wide operations processes, programs, and projects; including but not limited to ITS processes and systems implementation and/or execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, or Finance required; MBA or completion of an advanced degree in Business, or Management preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive business management experience related to the position's roles and Responsibilities including financial planning, contract management and operations
  • Advanced in MS Excel including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, formulas, etc. required; ability to quickly understand and effectively use internal operating systems; proficient with PeopleSoft a plus
  • Proven ability to quickly understand and interpret strategic issues, accurately analyze information, identify key trends, prepare concise summaries, and to provide sound recommendations related to complex issues
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, project management, operations, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with a variety of personalities and work styles, and demonstrated diplomatic, networking and delegation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • This is an in-office position and the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise is required
