Overview

AARP Services, Inc., (ASI) founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

The Data Science and Analytics Manager is a key member of ASI Data Intelligence Group and helps on our overall effort to transform into an integrated Data & Intelligence solutions organization utilizing best-in-class data and insight capabilities across creative, media and technology. Reporting to the Director, Data Science and Analytics, he / she will play a critical role to 1) Modernize AARP Services, Inc. data science and analytics operations; 2) Scope and develop innovative and scalable data science solutions and capabilities; as well as 3) Apply analytical and interpersonal skills to scale up data science & analytics services to grow tangible impact for AARP members and providers.

Responsibilities

  • Modernize ASI data science and analytics operations to drive open source programming, automation and big data capabilities.
  • Evaluate, innovate and operationalize sophisticated and scalable data science and analytics capabilities (e.g. data products, models and segmentations, optimization, digital audiences, behavior based targeting, advanced analytics processes and algorithms) to expand ASI Data Ecosystem and enhance ASI Data Science capabilities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define and prioritize delivery of integrated products, solutions and capabilities.
  • Develop go-to-market materials clearly articulating the value proposition of data science and analytics capabilities and solutions.
  • Evaluate, innovate and operationalize marketing performance measurement & attribution solutions to support AARP providers' $750M+ marketing spend towards AARP members.
  • Day-to-day activity by applying skills in support of data science and analytics deliverables for ASI, AARP and Providers on time/on budget to drive superior results and raving fan clients.
  • Apply great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to collaborate and engage with clients and key stakeholders, customize recommendations to scale up data science & analytics services to grow tangible impact for AARP members and providers.
  • Data Science and analytics solution documentation and training material development.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in data science role with strong marketing, modeling and business analytics background in addition to a Master degree in a quantitative discipline, e.g. statistics, economics, computer Science, engineering and etc.
  • Proficiency in open source programming (e.g. python & pyspark, scala, R), cloud environment (e.g. AWS, databricks), SAS, SQL and Excel (including VBA); Experience working with database and manipulating, navigating and harvesting large datasets
  • Experience in predictive modeling and machine learning solutions (e.g. logistic regression, linear regression, decision tree based ensemble machine learning algorithm, time-series model, media mix and attribution modeling, streaming)
  • Experience in multi-channel marketing campaigns, measurement, reporting, test design and analyses
  • Experience with consumer, digital marketing / advertising data and technology providers (e.g. Google, LiveRamp, TradeDesks)
  • Be able to present sophisticated data science methods and results to business audience; Great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to collaborate and engage with clients and key stakeholders

Considered to be a Plus:
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (e.g. Neural Network, Natural Language Processing, Image Recognition etc.) and Business Intelligence & Visualization; Experience with big data (e.g. DFA, Site Click Stream, Social Media, Call Center Scripts) and its analysis infrastructure (Hadoop, Hive, IBM Watson etc.)
  • Experience with Adtech/Martech platforms and digital campaign / analytics tool & service (e.g. Adobe Test & Target, Adobe Site Catalyst, Google Analytics, Ad Networks, DMPs, DSPs, CMS, Tag Management, RTB APIs)
  • Experience in direct marketing services, consulting, or digital advertising agency

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Telework and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
