Job Description
Job Duties:
Work closely with clients and others within the IT department to understand client business and technical requirements. Provide analytical, functional, and technical expertise for the development, implementation, maintenance, and support within The Washington Post's computer systems. Document production problems and their respective solutions. Provide staffing for systems support to meet Service Level Agreements, including participating in after-hours and on-call support rotation as needed. Understand and analyze current system functionality. Understand and follow established development methodologies and standards. Develop high-level solution designs based on client business requirements. Participate in data and object modeling sessions. Identify detailed characteristics of solution design. Write detailed specifications. Research available technologies and track comparable solutions outside of the company. Recommend technologies to be used in design solutions. Apply designated technologies. Plan, develop, and conduct unit testing and other testing as required. Collaborate with vendors to provide ongoing system support. Implement new solutions and perform impact assessments in all system/application changes, as necessary. Job is in Washington, DC.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering plus 3 years of experience as a software engineer or system administrator; 3 years of experience developing Financial, Enterprise, or Production systems; 3 years of experience developing and designing applications using any of the following technologies: Java, Python, Node.JS, HTML, Angular.js, web technologies, SQL query tools, cloud technologies, database technologies (mongo.DB, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, Aurora, or MaxDB), full-stack development tools, or scripting languages; 2 years of experience working in an Agile framework; 2 years of experience providing daily operational support, including working with clients for requirements collection and analysis; and 1 year of experience using UiPath Robotic Process automation. All experience may be earned concurrently.
