ABOUT THE ROLE:



Capital One is looking for an energetic, creative and results-driven communications professional to join a growing group of PR experts on our Corporate Communications team.

The Enterprise Software, Products & Technology Communications Managerwill support communications focused on Capital One Software. As the first bank to go all in on the public cloud, Capital One has re-architected our applications and data platforms, embraced machine learning at scale, and built capabilities to manage a complex data and application environment in the cloud.

Through this journey, we've developed a suite of internal solutions uniquely designed to meet the challenges of a digital-first, cloud-first business at scale. The Capital One Software team is exploring how these internal solutions across cloud, data, governance, and applications could serve the needs of other companies born or built in the cloud.

This person will partner with Capital One Software business, technology, and product leaders, marketing and brand partners, and integrated marketing and communications agencies to build and lead strategic, integrated, multi-dimensional, communications strategies across channels that highlight our technology products and offerings to the target audience.

This position requires exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills; solid understanding of and experience working with traditional and social media; experience with influencer identification and management; experience leading projects and teams to meet objectives; and the ability to build trusted relationships - with both internal and external stakeholders - while operating in a fast-paced, complex environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Exhibit a deep understanding of and ability to communicate the benefits, features and key insights related to technology, data, and cloud products
  • Work closely and engage with key stakeholders to build trusted relationships
  • Identify themes, topics and content that will resonate with target audiences and meet strategic business objectives
  • Leverage data and insights to inform narratives and influence programming
  • Contribute to the overall marketing and communications strategy for the business
  • Understand, identify and effectively navigate potential risks and sensitivities



Lead integrated communications strategies, including paid, earned, shared and owned media
  • Build and enhance mutually beneficial relationships among target media and influencers
  • Identify news hooks and agile PR opportunities that support business objectives
  • Thoughtfully determine when to incorporate earned media, influencer relations, experiential and content components into programming
  • Coordinate outreach, leveraging key contacts and managing relationships to ensure media coverage across a range of media verticals
  • Draft and lead the development of effective communications materials to include strategic plans, press releases, media alerts, remarks, social media content and other communications documents for various audiences
  • Oversee flawless media engagement through comprehensive spokesperson prep, on the ground support, and follow-up
  • Identify and establish relationships with third-party influencers that can contribute to and amplify our content
  • Build powerful, dynamic, influencer content that can be adapted and shared across a variety of internal and external channels


Partner and collaborate with Marketing and Corporate Communications team members to ensure well-managed (consistent, streamlined, value-driven and strategic wherever possible and appropriate) media and influencer engagement
  • Effectively manage agency(s) and vendors to support programming and media engagement
  • Assess risks, issues and potential communications problems and provide proactive solutions


Embrace research, measurement and analytical thinking as a means to drive impact
  • Ensure all work is executed through a lens of strategic impact and measurement, leveraging the latest tools and technology to showcase how communications is driving business outcomes, brand awareness and engagement


Support Capital One enterprise communications
  • Identify ways to enhance Capital One's reputation, ensuring all efforts reflect and bolster the enterprise narrative


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of Public Relations experience
  • At least 1 years of Enterprise technology software solutions PR experience


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 7 years of Public Relations experience
  • At least 2 years of Enterprise technology software solutions PR experience
  • At least 5 years of experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • At least 5 years of experience with executive-level clients
  • Experience working effectively with multiple constituents, including peers, executive management, senior management
  • At least 5 years of experience with current digital and social media technology
  • Understanding of SEO, content and social analytics best practices and principles
  • Engineering or technology background
