Duties

  • Serves as an Operations Specialist in the Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) G-3/5/7, Operations, Readiness and Mobilization Directorate (DAMO-OD), Army Operations Center (AOC).
  • Analyzes, coordinates, and develops staff actions. Ensures all AOC tasks and requirements are properly staffed, monitored, and completed in a timely and accurate manner using various digital products, including the Task Management Tool (TMT).
  • Analyzes, develops, and implements tenets of Knowledge Management to support division activities.
  • Analyzes data and information, and makes recommendations to ensure all AOC actions and products are prepared to standard and division personnel are properly trained in standard operating procedures, and briefing delivery.
  • Conducts detailed research and analysis in preparing staff actions for assigned tasks.
  • Analyzes daily battle rhythm, procedures, and operations within the AOC and makes recommendations on proposed changes. Promotes goals of the Equal Employment Opportunity Program (EEOP).

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A comprehensive background investigation is required.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Frequently, incumbent may be required to be on a two or four-hour recall.
  • Incumbent may be required to carry a phone and/or pager (Government furnished).
  • Incumbent must participate in any "call back" drills conducted by the organization (unless on approved leave).
  • Work may require travel by military or commercial aircraft or other modes of travel away from the normal duty station to locations within and outside of the Continental United States.
  • Travel may be on very short notice and may be under field conditions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinate and manage a variety of staff actions utilizing automated systems, such as the Task Management Tool (TMT); prepare and provide responses to inquiries to senior leadership; brief senior leadership on staff actions; and research or analyze inquiries to provide recommendations to leadership. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-[12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
