Principal Associate, Process Management - Control Modernization

The world of card acquisitions has undergone a major modernization effort. One that dramatically changed how our systems operate, and how we bring new card customers into Capital One. Modernized systems open a world of new possibilities, in how our business, system, and operations controls are built and monitored.

As a Principle Associate of Process Managementat Capital One, you will guide our product and tech teams to build new and modernized Controls and protections in our Acquisitions and Ability-to-Pay Processes. You will work closely with multiple lines of business, our risk and compliance counterparts, and our product and tech teams to ensure adequate control design, modernized implementation, and optimal performance. You will also help implement automated monitoring systems and metrics and improve reporting to Accountable Executives and Stakeholders. You will play a key role in delivering well managed, re-imagined, and streamlined controls that impact the company's bottom line and our customer's lives for over 30MM prospective customers each year.

A qualified candidate will have:
  • Demonstrated that they can improve company controls and protections and deliver well managed preventive and detective controls.
  • The ability to effectively communicate and influence partners across the company and across multiple levels of the organization.
  • The ability to learn and make light modifications in SQL and Python programming languages.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic agile environment are essential to succeeding in this role.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and have the ability to adapt to change quickly.
  • A solid grasp of Preventive and Detective Controls and Monitoring, Process management concepts and Agile experience, working with Risk / Compliance Officers and Auditors, proven ability to autonomously and effectively manage and lead a small team, and experience working with data and automation tools.
  • The ability to be Technology fluent (or conversational) with a comfort level working in a technology world.


In this position, you will contribute immediately while strengthening your and your team's well managed best practices while implementing modernization efforts. Responsibilities:
  • Subject matter expertise for Controls Design, documentation maintenance and to effectively partner with Product, Technology, Partners and Segments to achieve desired outcomes or improvements by clarifying needs and providing appropriate solutions
  • Monitoring success of Ability-to-Pay and Acquisitions processes
  • Active risk assessment, mitigation, and management through the use of the Control Suite
  • Understanding customers' needs of the controls and driving process improvements
  • Champion new delivery models including engaging Product and Tech teams in the creation and delivery of new controls
  • Drive strategic systematic changes in how controls are built and monitored
  • Travel required 25% or less


Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree or at least 2 years of process management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor'sDegree
  • 3+ years of experience in Process and Project Management
  • 2+ years of experience with Credit Card lending, Small Business and Commercial lines of business and/ or experience with Retail Partnerships
  • 1+ years of experience with bots, machine learning or other technologies for automation
  • 1+ years of experience running scripts and pulling data from the data lake
