Director of Clinical Operations The George Mason University School of Nursing within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), is launching a search for the Director of Clinical Operations. The School currently enrolls over 700 students, with Baccalaureate and Master's programs and both a Doctoral of Nursing Practice (DNP) program that includes advanced practice nursing concentrations in family practice, psychiatric mental health, and adult gerontology, as well as administration and a PhD in Nursing program. Further information about the School may be found at: the Position:The incumbent oversees both undergraduate and graduate clinical placements and will lead clinical adjunct faculty and preceptors recruitment efforts for the school. The Director of Clinical Operations will provide a vision and leadership for student placements to meet the challenges presented by growing competition for student placements by other local nursing and allied health schools. Responsibilities:Works with health-care agency partners to arrange appropriate placement of BSN level students in clinical settings for junior and senior level clinical courses;Assists MSN and DNP students to find and secure placements;Ensures all agency competency and compliance documentation is submitted and maintained;Conducts site visits to clinical agencies to maintain Mason presence, monitor appropriateness of site, and to new agencies to expand clinical placement opportunities;Provides oversight of all School of Nursing infrastructure and processes that support clinical operations across undergraduate and graduate programs, including Mason On-Line MSN FNP program. Examples include Typhon (software tracking) and Castel Branch (screening and compliance software);Establishes, evaluates and monitors all process and procedures that support clinical operations infrastructure;Coordinates management of clinical support infrastructure and processes with operations manager, administrative and office specialist, College administrative faculty and staff in dean's office and other academic units;Oversees hiring of all clinical and simulation center adjuncts in collaboration with program course leads and simulation center director, to include confirmation of credentials, education, immunization and other practice requirements;Plans and implements in collaboration with program coordinators and division director's adjunct faculty orientation and serves as point person for adjunct questions/concerns;Collaborates with program coordinators and division directors to identify clinical placement needs and develop and implement strategies to further develop clinical practice sites, including but not limited to exploratory site visits;Serves as primary point of communication with clinical practice partners in the community;Supervises the graduate clinic coordinator; andSupervises wage workers hired on as needed basis to support clinical-related tasks.Required Qualifications:Master's degree required (MSN preferred and if non-MSN, Master's with BSN preferred);An unencumbered Virginia Registered Nurse license, or eligibility to obtain upon employment;A minimum of two years recent clinical experience in a health care agency in the northern Virginia area;Geographical familiarity with the metropolitan DC and northern Virginia areas, and familiarity with health care agencies in the region;Previous experience with clinical placements and compliance documents or equivalent;Knowledge of typical health and background requirements for clinical sites; andRecent experience with software tracking tools for placements and student compliance.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience with student placement and with inter-agency contracts.
