Principal Project Manager (Treasury Management Operations)

As a Principal Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to engineer and deliver flawlessly executed processes and projects that improve business efficiency and drive results. You will create robust solutions and modify processes while collaborating with smart and passionate leaders to influence results that have a direct impact on the company's bottom line.

This specific role will engage our Treasury Management teams across the value chain (product, sales, operations, technology), to drive strategic projects and reengineering efforts that focus on transforming treasury management products, processes, and technology to deliver an industry leading experience for clients and associates, as well as supporting critical regulatory response and remediation efforts to mitigate risk and ensure operational excellence.

You will partner with business leaders to translate those strategic priorities into transformation roadmaps and lead execution on high priority programs for the company. You will educate and gain buy-in from key stakeholders concerning the utilization of process to ensure appropriate execution each and every time. Additionally, you will monitor data trends to measure effectiveness and install necessary benchmarks or thresholds to ensure data integrity. This individual will have demonstrated that they can improve company processes in the past, resulting in saving time and resources for the company.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic agile environment are essential to succeeding in this role. The specific focus for this role will be on all aspects of delivery to include idea analysis, feasibility, definition, planning, prioritization, implementation and close out of projects. This role requires strong teamwork, communication, and organization skills needed to drive progress and decisions across various Commercial Bank business lines and teams.

General Responsibilities:
  • Be a trusted change advisor to business partners to understand complex problems
  • Drive large-scale, high-impact, delivery in a highly agile environment by managing project milestones, and ensuring fulfillment of key deliverables
  • Deliver process changes both for incremental improvement as well as strategic transformation aligned with desired stakeholder outcomes
  • Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders and transformation teams to define recommendations and ensure delivery of commitments to clients enabling them to make key business decisions
  • Distill big picture intent into tactical requirements and implementation plans; designing, developing, and managing integrated project plans in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements
  • Create overarching roadmaps, communication and change management plans
  • Ultimately responsible for timely completion of all deliverables, ensuring projects are being documented appropriately to mitigate risk and meet defined objectives
  • Leverage problem solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent
  • Create and validate processes; design and produce metrics used to measure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Analyze, identify, and correct data issues with systems used or owned by a department
  • Conduct independent research and analysis to identify and solve ambiguous client problems and process gaps.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on processes when representing the department in projects and other meetings
  • Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes
  • Build expertise in delivery, agile, Commercial Banking, and risk management


Work at Home Technology Requirements:
  • A secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions
  • A reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use cellular data (hot spot)
    • Cable or fiber connections are preferred

    • Sustained ability to maintain latency less than 250 ms in voice calls is required
  • Hard wired connectivity is preferred, any use of wireless connectivity must be Private (non-public) and password protected through WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption. If you have any questions about your encryption, please consult with your internet provider
    • A private network is password protected where you have ownership or line of sight to every device on the network
  • Capital One reserves the right to request proof of internet provider, speed and service package from the associate
  • Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered. Capital One reserves the right to modify internet service requirements with sixty (60) days notice.


Candidates must live within 100 miles driving distance of one of the hub locations based in Richmond, VA, McLean, VA or Melville, NY.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 2 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 2 Year of Process Management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of Process Management experience
  • At least 4 years of Project or Program Management experience leading transformational initiatives
  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
  • At least 1 year of financial services, banking industry, or risk experience
  • At least 1 year of Consulting experience
  • At least 1 year of experience delivering communications to executives
