Transfer Admissions Counselor The George Mason University Office of Admissions seeks a Transfer Admissions Counselor to join an energetic recruitment team. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Admissions, the incumbent will support the University's strategic plan and enrollment goals in yielding talented and diverse new transfers.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment. Responsibilities: Represent the University at community college visits and transfer college fairs;Execute appropriate multi-channel communication with prospective students and applicants; Review transfer applications and render admission decisions;Represent the university at on-campus and virtual recruitment events;Conduct information sessions for prospective transfer students and families;Staff the Office of Transfer Services to meet with transfer applicants;Serve as Counselor of the Day to meet with prospective undergraduate students and families;Collaborate with other team members across the university and within the Office of Admissions;Provide excellent customer service; andOvernight recruitment travel and occasional evening and weekend work is required.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills, including public speaking skills and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations;Willingness and ability to travel extensively;Availability for evening and weekend work;Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information and situations;Ability to prioritize tasks in a hectic, deadline-driven environment often working on multiple tasks concurrently;Information technology literacy and willingness to learn new software applications;Proven ability to work positively as a team member;Comfortable and able to make independent decisions;Demonstrated customer service experience; and Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.
