Human Resources Specialist and Liaison The George Mason University, Fiscal Services is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for a Human Resources Specialist and Liaison. About the Position: The purpose of this position is to manage the employee recruitment and onboarding function for Fiscal Services. Assist with hiring activities including preparing, updating, revising and maintaining job descriptions. Initiate job posting and placement with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. Coordinate search committees, pre-screen candidates, schedule interviews, and serve as primary contact for candidates. Manage salary position budgets and provide updates to Budget Coordinator. Create a collaborative, supportive, and high-performance culture that supports diversity and inclusion efforts. Special projects including position description updates to incorporate business transformation and automation initiatives, including goal setting and assisting in monitoring performance metrics. Responsibilities: Manage the employee recruitment, onboarding, termination and organization structure management processes for Fiscal Services:Assist with hiring activities including preparing, updating, revising and maintaining job descriptions;Initiate job posting and placement with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion; Develop creative recruitment campaigns and ads that promote interest and attract quality candidates;Within GMU approved guidelines, use social media outlets to promote job openings; Coordinate search committees, pre-screen candidates, establish position search shared sites, provide applications and search matrix to search committee, schedule interviews, and serve as primary contact for candidates;Assist in developing interview questions;Create reports on recruitment activities and outcomes;Coordinate with Central HR to ensure new hires have completed all necessary onboarding paperwork;Create an onboarding process that focuses on Fiscal Services; Coordinate all required exiting paperwork when an employee leaves GMU; andManage and maintain the Fiscal Services organization charts. · Manage salary position budgets and provide updates to Budget Coordinator: Provide updates to budget coordinator regarding budgeted vs actual salary; andAssist Budget Coordinator in periodic salary forecasts.Manage diversity, equity and inclusion efforts related to hiring and retention: · Participate in creating a collaborative, supportive, and high-performance culture that supports diversity and inclusion efforts;Manage Fiscal Services Inclusive Excellence Plan (IEP) and provide reports on Fiscal Services progress toward and support of inclusive excellence;Coordinate training and awareness effort for diversity, equity and inclusion; andParticipate in IEP initiatives representing Fiscal Services, engaging in work groups and supplemental projects. Serve as the human resources liaison for Fiscal Services: Establish yourself as the first point of contact for Fiscal Services HR needs;Communicate with Central HR and update Fiscal Services on projects, initiatives, concerns, etc.;Participate in HR liaison meetings and Central HR training;Disseminate information from Human Resources to Fiscal Services staff; andProvide assistance with common Human Resources tasks, Electronic Approval Actions Forms (EPAF) performance management, forms, etc. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent with supplemental courses in human resources or related areas; or equivalent combination of education and experience;Experience in human resources management with a decentralized HR framework in a large complex organization, university or public environment; Experience with MS Office, MS Teams, Outlook, email and the Internet;Demonstrated coordination, organizational and business skills as well as attention to detail;Experience working independently, including prioritizing and following through with tasks, without direct supervision;Experience with learning new software and university procedures when training is provided;Experience with confidential information such as HR records;Very organized; able to multi-task; able to set priorities;Excellent communication and grammar skills, both verbal and written; andAll typical skills necessary for operating in an office environment, including but not limited to: typing; telephone etiquette; taking meeting minutes; maintaining databases; using document templates to write position descriptions, offer letters, etc.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in an academic environment;Experience with diversity, equity and inclusion work; and SHRM or HRCI certification.About the University: George Mason University, the largest public research university in Virginia, is an innovative, entrepreneurial institution with national distinction in both academics and research.
