Marketing Specialist Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and proven Marketing Specialist to join an Association in Washington, DC that is focused on public health. We are seeking a Marketing Specialist to execute campaigns in support of Membership and Engagement strategy. In this role, you will work across all channels, both traditional and digital marketing strategies, including direct mail, email, web, and social media. Working closely with the Membership & Engagement team, you will aim to enhance the reach and impact of our campaigns for recruitment, engagement, and retention to expand reach globally. The ideal candidate is an impact-oriented marketer who brings a unique blend of technical, strategic, consultative, and interpersonal skills to drive the right marketing solutions to improve member engagement, increase revenue, and grow Society brand awareness.

Marketing Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Develop marketing plans focused on driving membership recruitment, retention, and engagement.
  • Write marketing copy for emails, print pieces, and social media and identify best practices in marketing content copy.
  • Maintain analytics, metrics, and campaign reporting and proactively communicate results to marketing team to optimize future campaigns.
  • Develop content for weekly e-newsletter, as well as promotions served on the website.
  • Collaborate with the Membership team to stay abreast of new updates to campaigns and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure appropriate timing and placement of portfolio of work in relation to other Society initiatives and strategies and identify cross promotional opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Creative Services team to develop print and digital assets that support broader marketing plans, ensuring pieces adhere to brand standards and are appealing to recipients.
  • Support the Society's External Exhibits function, including planning, on-site participation, and post-event reporting.
  • Support the Society's List Rental function by collaborating with interested parties and fulfilling requests as needed.
  • Supporting the Director, Marketing as requested to meet deadlines and fulfill responsibilities as an active member of the Marketing team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Marketing Specialist Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in Marketing, Communication, Business Administration, or English preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a similar role, including developing and implementing marketing plans. Experience working at a health or science focused association a plus.
  • Excellent organization, copy writing, and editing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with email marketing systems like Higher Logic is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate written and verbally inside and outside the organization.
  • Proven track record of effective teamwork, both internal and external, in dealings with members and collaborators.
