Summary

The MIL Corporation seeks an Internal Control, Associate (Internal Control Auditor) for our Federal Government client in Camp Spring, MD (in the Washington, DC Metro Area). The Internal Control Auditor will support internal control reviews of financial, business and operational processes. The Internal Control Auditor will also provide internal control technical support to the government client.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute internal control assessments in accordance with OMB Circular A-123 Appendix A, OMB Guidance and the DHS Internal Control Management Assurance Guide.
  • Conduct process walkthroughs, tests of design (TOD), tests of operating effectiveness (TOE), and control re-performance tests.
  • Prepare and review audit working papers, to include interviews, process narratives and flows, control matrices, test plans, test results, statistical sampling, data analysis, summary of deficiencies, summary memoranda, roll forward assessments and other related documentation.
  • Consult with the client on corrective actions, process improvements, fraud indicators, risk management, and implementation of proper controls.
  • Provide internal control related technical support for audit tools, dashboards, automation tools, briefings, white papers and other guidance.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of internal control assessment or other audit experience.
  • Detail-oriented, especially in the creation and review of working papers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain timelines, meet deadlines and prioritize to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Per federal guidelines, you may be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or willingness to obtain vaccination.
  • Travel: Some travel in the continental U.S. may be required to perform internal control reviews.

Desired Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of OMB Circular A-123 and DHS-specific internal control guidance.
  • Relevant certifications such as CPA, CGFM, CIA, CICA or CFE
  • Experience with audit working paper platforms, audit automation tools, dashboards and/or data mining tools

Standard position will only require standard DHS background check. Some positions will require a Secret clearance; please note that the clearance process takes into account financial background aspects.
