Job Summary:
Westat has an immediate opening for a research assistant to join our Behavioral Health and Health Policy practice to work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers focused on tobacco regulatory science and tobacco prevention and control research. This research assistant will contribute to the design of data collection instruments for tobacco research projects, including but not limited to the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) Study. 

Job Responsibilities:
•    Collaborate with tobacco and health researchers to better understand data trends and measurement objectives.
•    Work with a team of experts to write new survey questions and develop multi-mode instruments.
•    Support the design and system testing of programmed surveys; and preparing survey instruments and materials for a wide range of audiences.
•    Work closely with project staff to coordinate tasks and project schedules, write meeting notes and conduct other notetaking activities, write drafts of documents summarizing project-related activities, and work on proposals.

Basic Qualifications:
•    A bachelor's degree in public health, psychology, sociology or a related social science or health science field is required.
•    At least 1 year of experience working in a research environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Candidate must be detail-oriented; have excellent written and oral communication skills;
•    Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; strong organizational skills; and work well in a fast-paced team environment.
•    Basic knowledge of computer office programs and databases (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.)
