Job Description

The Washington Post is hiring a Senior Technician to support and maintain in-house technology equipment and IT assets within a production warehouse type facility. You will assist clients with technical needs, including installing, configuring and maintaining networked computers on a Windows 10 Operating system. You will also diagnose and repair issues with mailroom, pressroom and plate-room specialized equipment and maintain all IT needs within the Production facility.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as first call line support within Springfield Plant for all computer/technical needs of plant personnel including maintaining an open phone line of communication to answer each service call.
  • Maintain computer functionality and operating systems around plant and perform maintenance at required intervals.
  • Install camera systems and informational monitors marquees within designated areas of facility and maintain functionality as required.
  • Perform required maintenance on Krause Computer for plate machines and periodic windows maintenance updates monthly.
  • Maintain plant computers and Rasberry-Pi images for plant and Distributions Centers around the area.
  • Maintain our computer image repository assigned to users and desktops within plant.
  • Maintain flexibility and provide the needed coverage that production requires to output products on a variety of shifts.
  • Other IT duties as required including answering client calls for technical help and installing Category 6 network cable within the plant


Qualification
  • 5 years' experience working with PC hardware and software and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems. Must be able to work independent and unsupervised.
  • Dependable and self- motivated
  • Ability to troubleshoot local hardware and software components and their relationship to LAN, and Wireless communication.
  • Understanding of LAN and wireless communications via TCP/IP and PLC, their functional relationship to the windows environment, as well as local devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot LAN hardware, data connections, fiber optics and structured wiring, using a variety of network tools and devices.
  • Willing to work in a manufacturing warehouse type of environment.
  • Ability to communicate and understand the English language and technical jargon associated with the IT Industry. Must pass along all details that occur during your hours of coverage (Shift) to your IT colleagues, in the written form of a Shift Report at the end of every work shift.
  • Willing to learn to troubleshoot and repair specialized equipment such as Krause Multiformat LS Jet Computer to Plate machine and the Operating System that drives it, the functionality of SLS 3000 inserter and its relationship to the driving operating system within
  • Willing to cover additional shifts, in the case of emergency or team members vacation coverage.
