Job Description

The Washington Post is hiring for a Senior Billing Specialist to assist with complex billing, contracts review and approvals. The best candidate will be someone who enjoys researching, analyzing, and providing suggestions for the best course of action in reconciling discrepancies. You will work with small tight knit group on team and individual projects to enhance our fact-finding research processes, billing, invoicing and customer service within our deadline driven environment. This position reports to the Supervisor, Finance.

Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze customer contracts, process all sales orders in billing and invoicing systems
  • Analyze, enhance, and maintain the full cycle billing processes
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and company policies on invoices and adjustments
  • Review and reconcile all billing discrepancies and provide revised or reformatted invoices
  • Research and review third party reporting and upload into the fulfillment system
  • Evaluate current process flows and develop solutions to complex billing problems to drive efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work with Collections, Sales and Client Service Managers to integrate solutions into day-to-day processes
  • Review and process pre & post billing audit reports
  • Review and analyze clients detail line-item reports
  • Manage email dropboxes & ticketing system request
  • Review monthly unbilled unearned report for resolutions with Finance Revenue Team
  • Process adjustments to ensure accuracy of quarterly advertising commissions
  • Participate in team building, team operations and rotation of shared responsibilities
  • Support the Finance department in meeting monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting deadlines
  • Create, maintain, and improve system processes, technologies, documentation, and reporting needs to maximize effectiveness and accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications
  • 3-5 years' experience with print and digital billing preferred
  • B.S. in accounting, business, or related field preferred
  • Strong analytical and Microsoft excel skills
  • Strong research and fact-finding abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to consistent changes in the work environment
  • Ability to manage priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and customer information
  • SAP, Operative One, & Jira Cloud Experience preferred
