ITL Conference Program Coordinator, Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning The George Mason University, Office of Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning invites applications for an Innovations in Teaching and Learning (ITL) Conference Program Coordinator (part-time) position. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position: The Conference Program Coordinator in Stearns Center primarily provides leadership and client-relations management for developing the content of the annual Innovations in Teaching and Learning Conference (each September), with a particular focus on faculty outreach. The position is part time (10-15 hours per week) and reports to the Director for Teaching Excellence while collaborating with the Conference Projects Coordinator and Events Manager/Conference Director. This position is designed to work through the 2022 Innovations in Teaching and Learning Conference and final wrap-up events, including summer hours, through September 30, 2022. The position may be renewed for an additional year if budget allows.Responsibilities: Provide vision and leadership in establishing the ITL conference theme, overall conference schedule, and branding;Provide leadership in designing the faculty and participant experience with the ITL conference, particularly the educational and intellectual development of participants;Provide leadership and coordinate implementation of the request for proposals, proposal review and selection, conference schedule, and campus-wide communications;Design and implement conference-related faculty-support: proposal guidelines, session planning guides, drop-in consultation hours, requests for feedback, etc.;Liaise with faculty, in-house specialists, offices, or departments involved in creating presentations or learning experiences at the conference, to ensure quality and relevance; and Help coordinate, revise, and post live and on-demand conference session materials.Required Qualifications: College-level teaching experience;Ability to articulate and evaluate high quality strategies for college-level teaching and learning;Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;Ability to work as part of a team, but also act independently; andExperience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word.Preferred Qualifications:Conference planning experience; andExperience managing medium- to large-scale events.
