AARP's Policy, Research and International Affairs leads the development and communication of AARP's public policies and, research and insights on the issues that matter to people 50-plus.

This Policy and Research Manager role provides high level project management of policy development and/or integration activities; drives policy development and integration processes. serves as thought leader and collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive policy consistency across the enterprise including advocacy, programs, products and services and innovation lab partnerships. Conducts policy research and analysis to support the development and integration of the organization's public policies.

Responsibilities

  • Public Policy: Drives, thorough analysis of issues, review of wide range of input from members, volunteers and people 50 plus, and coordination of stakeholders throughout the enterprise, the development of the organization's public policies across the strategic portfolio areas to continue to position AARP as leading authority on aging.
  • Thought Leadership: Builds and maintains subject matter expertise across strategic areas and serve as key internal and external thought leader in driving new and innovative policy approaches across the enterprise and externally represents the organization as appropriate.
  • Policy Integration: Drives the integration of policy across the enterprise to empowers departments to deliver on the values embedded in our policy positions.
  • Project Management: Serve as main coordination manager for enterprise wide policy development OR policy integration.
  • Policy Research: Conducts policy research and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree required and 7+ years of research and project management experience.
  • Policy research analysis experience required.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration skills and matrix team management experience required.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels and across multiple departments.
  • This is an in-office position and the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise level is required.
  • Demonstrated verbal communication skills required.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
