Project Accountant - Federal Government Contracts Recruiting for this is being handled by Corps Team on behalf of our client. This is a full time, direct hire, position with a full benefits package In Reston, VA. This position will start in January 2022. The Project Accountant will be responsible for performing, supporting, and coordinating project accounting and finance for the program teams. Please note, this role requires significant hands on accounting experience as well as a degree in accounting or finance. Responsibilities: The Project Accountant will execute and track each applicable task through its lifecycle and makes sure critical information is shared among the various team members. The successful Project Accountant will juggle multiple tasks and multiple internal and customer stakeholders while managing his/her time effectively. S/he must be adept at multitasking, as this individual will perform a wide variety of tasks on a daily basis, and will be responsible for managing their tasks, meeting deadlines, and communicating regular status with program, project and finance/accounting teams. Primary responsibilities include: Performing moderate to complex financial and administrative reporting for contracts and projects. Implementing and administering formal aspects of projects in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and government regulations. Developing project related financial data. Managing procurement responsibilities for the team eg, managing the process of establishing agreements (cost-plus, T, or FFP), maintaining purchase orders and processing invoices. Ensuring accurate and timely billing. Creating and maintaining ASC 606 revenue schedules for FFP contracts. Providing support to Program Managers related to financial planning and execution. Participating in the development of cost controls, procedures, systems, and forecasting techniques to evaluate contract/program status. Ensuring compliance with government and customer requirements. Conducting cost, schedule, contract performance, variance, and risk analysis, proposal preparation, and preparing reports as required. Education: Bachelor' s Degree in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of experience are a minimum requirement. Skills and Requirements: 5+ years of accounting experience with a minimum of 2+ years directly responsible for Federal government contract accounting with emphasis in providing financial tracking and support for the government customer in areas of Program Control, Finance, Cost Estimating, Financial Analysis, or Accounting is a minimum requirement. A strong background in Federal Government contract accounting and understanding of FAR, DFAR and DCAA regulations is a minimum requirement. Well versed in the entire life cycle of a program from proposal development through closeout. Expert level proficiency manipulating data in Microsoft Excel and ability to create and maintain project financial models. Familiarity with a major Federal government accounting system such as Deltek, required. Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work with all levels of management and across multiple and varied functional teams from working to executive level. Able to manage deadlines and priorities activities consistently. Proven ability to establish strong relationships. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be a team player, able to handle ambiguity, anticipate and react to changes quickly (flexible with hours and duties). Candidates must be able to work on site on a hybrid schedule in Reston, VA. Must be a US Citizen and able to be cleared to the Secret level.
