This position is responsible for state and local legislative and regulatory activities. Develops high level strategies and plans for achieving the organizations regulatory and legislative objectives on the state and local level to include: interfacing with and responding to state legislatures, and overseeing the analysis of legislative bills andregulatory proceedingsto determine impact on DIRECTV and to take appropriate action in advocating company positions. Presenting company positions to elected officials, regulatory agency officials, third party stakeholders and company officers, executives and managers.Key Roles and Responsibilities:Responsible for influencing and identifying proposed state and local legislative and regulatory or policy issues, to ensure a positive or neutral effect on the company.Serving as key witness and advocate before state legislatures.Developing policy positions and organizing strategy with respect to state legislative issues.Develops and maintains credible and professional relationships with state legislatures and their staff.Directing state lobbying activities for achieving DIRECTV's legislative, regulatory and operational objectives, including supervising team of outside consultants.Overseeing the analysis of state legislative bills to determine impact on DIRECTV and appropriate action.Responsible for the grassroots programs for state legislative activities to generate constituent support for company objectives.Typically reports to senior or officer level management.QualificationsEducation: Bachelors degree required.
