Description The Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, Southern Region Parks Division, is currently seeking a Park Manager I to perform technical and administrative work related to system management and custodial maintenance of facilities, equipment, and grounds. Incumbents will be responsible for maintenance, minor repair, and operation of specific equipment related to facility maintenance. Researches, recommends, and implements approved programs and projects for maintaining and upgrading building systems. Leads lower grade employee(s) activities in various duties required to maintain the building(s). Responsible for writing specifications, recommending selection, and reviewing work of contractors to ensure contract compliance. Recommends operating policies and procedures for building and maintenance work programs. Performs other related duties as assigned. This position will work directly under the supervision of Park Manager II to ensure the smooth operations for the Custodial work program in the Southern Region Parks Division Examples of Important Duties Parks Programs and Operations ManagementAnswer inter-department concerns on the custodial, facility, and public needs and concerns.Assign staff to complete work requests that require seasonal and career custodial staff.Conduct staff meetings, training for safety and maintenance of operations.Manage and supervise the seasonal and career custodial staff located in the Southern Region Parks Division.Suggest improvements for park amenities as needed and for maintenance locations.Work closely with the Team Leaders to ensure the custodial program is performed to the highest standards.BudgetAssist Park Manager II with managing the seasonal budgets and supplies.Assist the Park Manager with analyzing the financial information and operational requirements to plan, prepare, and manage the Area Maintenance work program's operating budget. It helps ensure an efficient operation within budget constraints and assures fiscal control and accountability.Prepare a monthly report to the Southern division reflecting expenditures and spending plan.Recommend, analyze, and program the cost for future facilities and infrastructures using the Operating Budget Impact (OBI).Submit purchase orders for invoices from M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, and keep track of purchases using the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), the Enterprise Assets Manager (EAM), and Microsoft Excel application.SchedulingAssist with all scheduling of staff, inclusive of full time union, MCGEO, and seasonal staff. Schedule staff for winter storms and other related weather emergencies throughout the year.Coordinate custodial tasks such as maintaining the outward appearance of the gymnasiums, restrooms, fitness rooms, and multi-purpose rooms.Maintain and coordinate the staff schedules to support maintenance operations required for the custodial program. TrainingAcquire training classes associated with Microsoft Office, applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook as needed.Other training includes Emergency Management and COOP, Interagency Continuance of Operations and Planning, for wide-area emergencies.Training for Purchasing Guidelines and Ethics Performance Accounting, Kronos, and Safety. Responsible for staff training in Health, First Aide, and continuity of Safety training.SupervisionEvaluate and counsel employee's performance in compliance with Commission policy.Maintain files and records pertinent to employees' work performance and attendance.Responsible for hiring and terminating employees as needed.Supervise, train, and develop employees in the maintenance field.Use Kronos Program to approve timesheets.Work closely with other Park Manager I to ensure all park maintenance needs are met. Minimum Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in park management/administration, outdoor recreation, natural sciences, or a related field and one year of park management experience that included supervision and leadership of a staff; or2. An equivalent combination of education and experience.3. Valid driver's license.4. Additionally, contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require:a. Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements upon appointment, or the ability to acquire one within six months.b. Maryland Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator's certification in the categories appropriate to the work assignment.c. Certification by the National Playground Safety Institute.
