The Special Programs Division of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George's County is seeking a Recreation/Enterprise Facility Manager II to lead operations, programs and events at the Camp Springs Senior Activity Center in Camp Springs, MD. This position also supervises the senior program at our newest multigenerational center, the Southern Area Aquatics and Recreation Complex.This Facility Manager will lead all facets of the center's operations and programming, including supervising full-time and part-time/intermittent staff; facilitating maintenance and operations; planning and implementing comprehensive, innovative and diverse programming for seniors 60 & better; supervising program and operations budgets; coordinating marketing efforts; and providing outstanding customer service.This job requires the Facility Director to regularly exercise independent judgment, to perform within policy guidelines, and to develop successful business strategies and methodologies to achieve optimum program operations. They are also required to work evenings and weekends based on programmatic and operational needs, as part of a regularly scheduled work week. Examples of Important Duties Operations:Develops and implements long-term goals and operational procedures.Coordinates maintenance and ensures issues are promptly addressed with minimal disruption to facility programs or schedules. Programming and Marketing:Leads recreational programs for seniors, setting program goals and objectives, and regularly evaluating programs. Meets with citizens, community groups, and business groups/partners to identify needs, plan programs and answer questions about facility programs. Investigates and resolves complaints involving highly critical issues and problems.Collaborates with marketing staff to promote facility amenities through various media outlets including social media (Facebook, websites) and assists with preparation of marketing materials, such as brochures and flyers.Business Operations and Budgeting:Prepares and maintains administrative records such as revenue and expenses, inventory of supplies and equipment, timecards, rentals, facility maintenance and attendance.Responsible for operating budget, which includes revenue-producing programs and rentals. Prepares annual budget request for facility. Controls expenditures within approved budget.Coordinates preparation and submission of cash reports, and procures equipment and merchandise. Solicits bids and quotes from vendors and contractors, and selects best offers and initiates purchase requisitions and check requests. Staff and Professional Development:Supervises two full-time staff and 30+ part time staff. Plans, schedules, and assigns work. Recruits, selects, trains, mentors and evaluates staff. Conducts performance appraisals. Counsels employees and recommends corrective action. Approves timecards and leave requests. Ensures all staff complete various trainings (CPR/First Aid, customer service, etc.).Sets a positive example for employees ensuring customers are treated in a timely, professional, and encouraging manner.Attends professional seminars to identify new programs, methods and equipment which might be useful for the facilities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or four years experience in one of the following fields: parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or in area of required specialty (senior services or facility management); andThree years of progressive professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or area of required specialty (senior services or facility management), including one year as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor; orAn equivalent combination of education and experience; and,A valid driver's license may be required. Supplemental Information Working Conditions:Works in an assigned facility which normally operates six days per week. May work extended hours, including weekends and evenings. Responds to emergency situations. Requires regular contact with the general public and staff. Responds to citizens' complaints.
