MIL currently holds several multi-year contracts with NAWCAD in the areas of Cyber, C5ISR, and Information Technology systems.

Summary

The MIL Corporation (Cyber Sector) is seeking a full-time, temporary Applications Programming, Senior Associate to serve as a Splunk Subject Matter Expert for assigned projects at Patuxent River, Maryland. This position provides technical expertise as a Splunk developer, administrator, architect, and analytics expert while supporting various aspects of system management and data analysis for both Splunk Cloud and Splunk Enterprise. Excellent communication, analytical, interpersonal skills, and a strong knack for service at all levels. Mastery with designing and architecting solutions for data analytics utilizing Splunk. Strong experience developing tools for organizations to monitor their data and improve their response mechanisms with experience consulting with blue, red, and purple security teams. This position will require working in classified spaces.

Responsibilities
  • Keep current in all aspects of Splunk, including: Software Development, administration, architecture, analytics, system management, and data analysis. This shall include Splunk Cloud and Splunk Enterprise.
  • Develop technical strategies and design solutions in support of all Splunk-related matters for the Program Office.
  • Research, analyze, and track Splunk-related systems throughout their acquisition life cycle and monitor critical events such as program schedule, milestones, technical performance, funding, and documentation.
  • Research the applicability of current and evolving Splunk-related technology pertinent to related Government Customer development programs/projects.
  • Function as a Senior Splunk Advisor to: Build security monitoring content that drive initiative forward and detect major threats like the Solarwinds breach or smaller incidents; Support onboarding of new data sources used to create a robust data-driven organization; Contribute to automating compliance auditing tasks; Ensure that a detailed health check report process is in place; and other projects.
  • Function as a Splunk Architect to: Standardize the architecture deployment, configurations and maintenance across Linux and Windows Platforms.
  • Function as a Splunk Engineer to: Maintain various components; Monitor Splunk infrastructure for capacity planning and optimization; Integrate/Analyze various log sources and tools into Splunk.
  • Prepare formal program materials that may include white papers, presentations, future road mapping concepts, acquisition materials, and portions of technical documents such as specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Monitor, and evaluate risk, safety, and system performance impacts to the customer.
  • Regularly communicate with customers, Division Leadership, and across program IPTs.
  • Work with Division leadership and customers in the development of broad technical objectives for new program initiatives, postulate conceptual approaches, identify organic capability needs, and/or perform long range planning activities to support assigned projects.
  • Support the Division and/or customer at conferences, meetings, working groups and ad-hoc task groups for the purpose of exchanging information on technical matters relating to DoD, Department and Division programs.
  • Work with Division and customer leadership to identify staffing and skills required to carry out assigned or future project requirements.
  • Support the Mission Aligned Organization's Management. that may entail activities such as providing work examples for tasking efforts, program status summaries, reviewing proposed standard operating procedures and processes, and identifying program specific training needs from a total program perspective.

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years professional IT or engineering experience in the Information Technology space, with the preponderance of this experience as a Splunk developer, administrator, architect, consultant, and/or analytics expert. Since the customer is in a Naval Aviation environment, experience relating to aviation or weapons systems is a major plus, though not a requirement.
  • Certification Requirements: Splunk Architect , Splunk Administrator , and Splunk User
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux, AWS, Bash, HTML, MySql, Oracle
  • Per federal guidelines, you may be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or willingness to obtain vaccination.

Desired Qualifications
  • Desired Certifications: Splunk Power User, and AWS Certified Cloud Solutions Architect
  • Desired Experience: Ansible, SPL, Apache Subversion, SNMP, XML, Regex, Docker, Git, CSS

Education
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or directly related technical major; OR Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering from an ABET accredited course of study.
  • Desired: Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or Systems Engineering.
