Duties

In this position, you will assist in the administration of the agency-wide Antiterrorism Program and contributes to the management of the Coast Guard Internal Security Program.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include:

- Developing Antiterrorism (AT) policy and procedural guidance in support of the Coast Guard Antiterrorism Program.

- Conducting visits of varying length to USCG units to conduct site surveys for the conduct of Threat Assessments, Vulnerability Assessments and Criticality Assessments completing reports supporting finding and supporting recommendations.

- Serving as the technical authority on matters involving Antiterrorism. Responsible for the coordination, deconfliction, and integration of various force protection processes, assessments, and activities across the installation.

- Providing training syllabus and course curriculum and site specific objectives for AT awareness training, Command Security Officer AT Training and Command/Executive level AT training.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-13: Applicant must possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lowest grade level (GS-12) equivalent to experience gained in the federal sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples of specialized experience includes: serving as component representative at Departmental and Agency level AT and Threat working groups; developing guidance and apply programs, procedures and contingency plans based on a risk approach and proposes solutions that monitor, evaluate and enable resolution to safeguard the workforce, reduce property loss, and support mission continuity; providing strategic direction, vision, and leadership; planning, conducting, performing or coordinating on site security studies, projects, assessments, and training activities in relationship to antiterrorism requirements; monitoring Antiterrorism plans and exercises; assessing plan effectiveness, and recommending plan improvements to improve responses to emergencies; and developing, organizing and conducting security training.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
