Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in Communications and Network System Design (Level 2) in Herndon VA. Maritime Undersea (MU) is a growing business focused on delivering complex solutions from seabed to space! As a MU Electrical Systems, Communications, and Network Design Engineer, you will be part of a bi-coastal team delivering the best solutions for today's complex engineering challenges. Our products range from unique VSAT-based network communications solutions to highly capable remote network monitoring, control, and support operations. As a Communications and Network Design Engineer, you will support the development of engineering solutions for satellite communication networks, and systems installation, operations, and maintenance, including system communications analysis and RF design and analysis. In this role you will be joining a cross-functional team to progress our products through the entire lifecycle of a satellite communications network. Our Bi-Coastal team is located in Herndon, VA and Huntington Beach, CA with active growth at both sites. This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location. Position Responsibilities: Support the development and documentation of electrical systems design over the complete product lifecycle including requirements and interface definition, electronic system architecture definition and component selection, circuit design, modeling and analysis, and electrical system test and design verification. Support testing and validation processes to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements. Support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle. Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final US top secret clearance Post Start is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience): Experience in network analysis and communications systems signal analysis using network, spectrum and circuit analysis tools Experience testing and validating system designs and components to ensure they meet operational and functional requirements Experience analyzing and translating requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications Proficient at technical writing (eg, proposals, white papers, statements of works, presentations, etc.) Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or other related technical field. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience in SATCOM communications, networking, antennas, and subsystem components, including frequency converters, modems, low noise amplifiers/blocks, and high power amplifiers Experience generating and analyzing RF link budgets Knowledge of antenna design/modeling and performance validation Knowledge of communications and network system power system requirements Experience designing and validating products & systems against operational environmental standards (ie ISO & MIL) Technologically relevant digital & analog signal processing experience Technologically relevant experience in timing and synchronization principles (eg, time of arrival, time of effectively, phase-locked loops) for signal recovery, geolocation and sensor system function Technologically relevant experience with physical modeling techniques for backgrounds, noise and clutter. Experience with processing techniques for suppression and/or rejection of backgrounds, noise and clutter Experience with applied and environmental physics (eg, propagation, attenuation, absorption, performance factors, polarization) and their effects across the spectrum Knowledge of programming languages (eg, C++, Matlab, Visual Basic, C, Assembly, C#, Java) Knowledge of modeling and prototyping tools (eg, Matlab, MathCAD, manufacturer specific tools for signal processing software) Experience interpreting engineering/technical Statements of Work (SOW) Proficient at MS Office software suite (incl. Visio) Team experience (Agile work environment, formal technical/customer presentations) Ability to acquire a Top Secret US Security Clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation and SCI/SSBI eligibility including in scope poly. Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (eg Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (eg Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
