We accomplish our mission by integrating operational domain knowledge, validated mission threads, and digital engineering to rapidly prototype capabilities and assess tradeoffs in virtual environments through representative modeling, simulation, and experimentation. We strongly value deep technical and operational expertise, a mission-oriented mindset, and a desire to firmly link the acquisition of advanced capabilities to operational warfighters, analysts, and end-users in the mission outcomes supported by our work program: F-35 Enterprise, Weapons System Integration, and Logistics in Contested Environments (LogCE).Our Department is seeking an experienced and motivated supply chain engineer to bring military and commercial supply chain expertise, best practices, and innovation to the LogCE portion of our work program. The LogCE work program is focused on preparing for and sustaining power projection while under a persistent, multi-domain attack in contested environments through dynamic basing, resupply, and maintenance. The supply chain engineer will assist the project team with developing long-term impactful strategies and applying state-of-the art technologies to prototype advanced logistics solutions to modernize fleet, field, and depot level requirements and processes. Supply chain areas of interest include warehousing, inventory, distribution and transportation, advanced planning and scheduling, fleet management, maintenance, and sustainment. Technology areas of interest include machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analytics, predictive modeling, augmented reality, virtual reality, and additive manufacturing.Job Responsibilities:The selected candidate will be a thought leader in the LogCE work program responsible for bringing supply chain, logistics, and technical knowledge to understand the challenges, opportunities, and impact areas where MITRE can best support our LogCE sponsors. The supply chain engineer will also assist with developing long-term strategies for the work program in collaboration with Air Force and Joint Services sponsors, Department and Outcome Leadership teams, and other projects across MITRE aimed at accelerating the next generation of military logistics, sustainment, and maintenance solutions in both permissive and austere environments. The selected candidate will be expected to provide supply chain contributions in the following areas:Logistics Under Attack: employing modeling, simulation, and other tools to ensure all echelons of Air Force basing, logistics, and sustainment are resilient under attackAgile Combat Employment (ACE): applying kill-chain analysis techniques to ensure the Air Force has the basing, logistics, and sustainment agility necessary to operate effectively in contested environmentsWeapon System Sustainment: growing the digital engineering baseline to ensure all Air Force weapon systems can be effectively and efficiently sustained at home and abroadLogistics Command and Control (C2): leveraging agile development tools to ensure all Air Force basing, logistics, and sustainment leaders have timely and decision-quality information available in support of their missionIn addition, the selected candidate will perform the functions expected of all MITRE project leaders:Provide thought leadership and an ability to think strategically about supply chain planning and management in the wider LogCE and joint communityUnderstand Air Force supply chain sponsor needs, and related LogCE business needs, to deliver high impact capabilities, roadmaps, and strategiesAssist with defining, developing, prioritizing, and executing the project work plan with specific supply chain objectives, deliverables, and sponsor outcomesIdentify potential cross-cutting opportunities/outcomes, identify risks, and pursue related mitigations for addressing operational requirementsMinimum Qualifications:Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. Degree should be in Engineering, Operational Research, Math, or Computer ScienceApplicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.Required Qualifications:Strong systems engineering skills in Enterprise Systems Engineering, Operational Requirements Analysis, Command and Control, or Joint OperationsDemonstrated ability to work with project leaders and cross-functional teams to identify key technical challenges and providing innovative approaches to solving those challengesDemonstrated ability to develop and foster trusted relationships with sponsor and MITRE teamExcellent interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skillsPossess an active Secret level security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI level security clearancePreferred Qualifications:Master's Degree in Engineering, Operational Research, Math, or Computer ScienceExperience in logistics and supply chain solutions, sustainment modeling and simulation, or sustainment engineering design and implementationExperience with Digital Engineering concepts and toolsExperience with agile software development methodologies and DevSecOpsProfessional Certifications in the Logistics, Maintenance, or Supply Chain domainsPossess an active TS/SCI level security clearanceThis requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):MITRE requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
