You will learn about MITRE sponsor missions and apply your technical knowledge and skills to problem-solving and innovation. At the culmination of the New Professional Program, you will become part of MITRE's National Security team focused on sponsor missions with a strong technical background enabling you to be a future leader in the company.From design to operations, you will learn to apply cybersecurity engineering expertise, innovative concepts, and technology solutions to address every facet of our sponsor's cyber challenges to include:Applied cybersecurity engineeringCloud securityCyber analyticsCyber architecture and resiliencyCyber operationsCyber policy, strategy, and privacyCyber reverse engineeringCyber risk managementCyber threat intelligenceCyber vulnerability assessmentsInformation assurance and trusted computingMobile, embedded, and cyber-physical securityThreat-based engineeringRecover and reverse engineeringDevelopment of novel cyber capabilitiesWhat are some examples of the projects that I might work on?Vulnerability assessment of federal and national security infrastructureBuilding next generation reverse engineering tools and approachesDeep analysis of an operational system to understand limitations and weaknessesReverse-engineering specific power supply for faults and vulnerabilitiesDocumentation of technical approaches and architectures, and practice guides for special publications on computer, cyber, and information securityWhat does an ideal MITRE New Professional Cybersecurity Engineer have?Hands-on experience gained from previous work experience or relevant intern/co-op workApplied knowledge of cybersecurity principles, tools, and devicesProficiency in one or more of the following programming languages Java, Python, C#, Objective C; Database design & development including SQLInterdisciplinary background with at least of one of those disciplines being cybersecurity, computer science, computer engineering or a related technical fieldEvidence of being a life-long learner, with a passion for the fieldHigh-level desire to help our nation solve critical problemsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in cybersecurity, software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical fieldDemonstrated ability and desire to quickly learn and apply new technologiesHands-on skills in at least one object-oriented, procedural, functional, or declarative programming language (eg, Java, C/C++/Objective-C/C#, Python, Go, JavaScript, Ruby)Preferred Qualifications:1-3 years of experience in cybersecurity principles, tools, and devicesExperience working projects related to national security for one or more government agenciesInterdisciplinary background, with evidence of continual learningExperience with software development tools and frameworks, including source control management tools (eg, Git)Experience with modern software development methodologies (eg, Agile)Knowledge of security across multiple platforms working on a variety of operating systems, computer systems, mobile devices, cloud networks, and wireless networksKnowledge of fundamental computer forensicsKnowledge of advanced cyber threats and adversary methodologiesrequisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):NoneThis requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):SecretMITRE requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
