The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Space and Launch Division is seeking an Experienced Software Systems Engineering Tester (Level 3) to join our team in Herndon, VA. Our Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments. Position Overview: The Experienced Software Systems Engineering Tester will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a collaborate environment with a multi-discipline team. This position will focus on the requirements verification and validation phases of the system engineering lifecycle, ensuring that the customer's requirements and defined use cases are reconciled in the software products through formal and informal testing methodologies. This role will include work at the forefront of automated testing technology as part of the Verification and Validation team. Position Responsibilities: Understand and apply the concept of operations necessary for users to satisfy their goals and understand how they apply to testing activities. Develop an understanding of system test design for both manual and automated testing methodologies. Support agile process methodology through participation in daily scrums. Acquire the knowledge for testing and evaluation of software algorithms to ensure they meet performance and formal requirements specifications. Complete testing and evaluation of specialized user interfaces (UI) to ensure user needs are met. Independently determine content for and write system software test reports. Develop frameworks and content for automated tests. Participate in design review presentations to communicate software test plans and activities. Demonstrate initiative in working tasks as well as solutions to testing issues. Work Authorization: This position requires an active US TS/SCI Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required). (A US Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 3 years or more experience with software testing (manual or automated) and related tasks. 1 year or more experience working on an Agile team . Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. Working knowledge of automated testing tools and techniques (ie Selenium). Experience with scripting or software development language (ie Java, Python, Ruby, JavaScript). Experience or knowledge of agile software development process methodology (ie Scrum, SAFe, Kanban), and one or more agile related management tools (ie Jira) Experience or knowledge of software engineering tools and processes used for development, deployment, or deficiency tracking. Good verbal and written communication skills along with good collaboration skills for technical coordination with team members and communicating task status to lead. Experience or knowledge or Windows-based systems and fluency in Microsoft Office tools. Experience or knowledge of Linux/Unix. Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (eg Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (eg PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation : Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
