Overview: Construction Superintendent Trainee (CST) The Construction Superintendent Trainee Program (CST) is an internal Leadership Development program aimed at building and developing a broad range of skills, knowledge, and experiences necessary tomove intocareer paths towardfuture manager, supervisory, and leadership positionsfor the Company's ongoing and future success. Individuals in this Program will provide in-the-field support specific to large projects or quarry accounts and work in support of operations personnel, project management and customer contacts relative to the project. This position will assist the project manager with all aspects of supervising and managing project labor, means, methods and schedules to assure the project maintains budgeted operating results. Responsibilities: Provides hands-on field support towards the daily activities of large construction or quarry projectsMust actively learn the following key project activities:Blasting, must understand all aspects of construction and or quarry blasting.Drilling, must understand all aspects of drill operation, utilization and maintenanceSafety, must understand all elements of safety relative to D & B activitiesMaterials and Supply,must understand all procurement and logistics relative to D activitiesPerform QC efforts to support project profitability budgets and standardsProject Supervision, will assist and support the Project ManagerEssential Development Plan ResponsibilityDivision Manager and Trainee together will create a customized developmental plan to help Trainee progress with essential skill sets needed for operational advancement towards positions such as Blasting Supervisor, Blasting Superintendent, Project Superintendent and possibly Divisional Manager.A quarterly progress report will be required of the trainee that covers learnings and progress made supporting the accomplishment of the developmental plan.It is expected that during the off-season or as time permits that additional departmental training may be considered that could provide additional business knowledge. Qualifications: 4 year college degree in construction management or civil engineering preferred, however, other college disciplines may be considered1-2 years prior construction experience desiredExcellent communication skills with a high level of diplomacyStrong leadership traits with the ability to grow and develop into a solid supervisor and manager.Job RequirementsMust be able to travel to distant projects and work within a multi state area.Must be able to perform manual labor necessary to learn the D & B industry from the ground up to include laboring, drilling, blasting etc.Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and on rough terrain.Essential Skills and Traits RequiredHigh attention to detailsHighly competitiveExcellent PR skills with ability to win others overExcellent team skillsFundamental leadership skills with the desire to learn and developPositive can do attitudeMaine Drilling & Blasting is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
