This is a great opportunity to build strategic communications experience, making constant decisions about content channel distribution, tone, audience, and tracking engagement. Manage a weekly member newsletter that includes both contributed and written content based on news, activities and weekly information shared by the association and its members. Manage a daily news publication that aggregates industry articles for publication by a third party vendor. Review and recommend selected articles for the day, and distribute recommendations for review by senior management team. Coordinate work with PR and marketing agency for a consumer facing effort and website igniteyourcareer.com. Keep a very robust workforce development effort moving by reviewing and approving creative, strategic plans and nationwide rollout of new campaigns. Assist with management of workforce development campaigns and special events with chapters. Draft news releases, blog posts, talking points and website content, as needed. Contribute to presentation creation, as needed. Assist with coordination of media interviews and contribute to development of compelling story angles. Support implementation of media relations strategies and campaigns to advance awareness of SMACNA members and their interests. Conduct strategic research to support communications messaging. Monitor nationwide media coverage on the construction and sheet metal industries through the use of industry media monitoring software programs. Support email content creation and distribution. Contribute to social media messaging, scheduling and content creation. Non-Essential Functions: Maintain awareness of best practices and emerging technologies, and regularly offer new ideas and suggestions to improve the effectiveness of SMACNA's communications efforts. Required Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's degree required. Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, political science, or communications preferred. Three years of work experience in communications/publications is preferred. Background in journalism is desirable. Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, researching and organizational skills required. Must be detail-oriented and handle multiple tasks while meeting critical deadlines. This position reports to the Executive Director, Communications & Marketing and is an in office position, NOT remote. * SMACNA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
