Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.The Engineering Environment Development & Support (EEDS) organization is seeking a Mechanical CAD CAM Engineer to join our talented and diverse team in the Linthicum, MD area.The CAD CAM Engineer will be involved in Mechanical Engineering-focused research and collaborate with design and/or product line engineers in the design, development, and utilization of software to model a representation of components, modules, or complete products for various applications. The candidate should be self-motivated and detail-oriented with experience working with Mechanical CAD simulation and analysis tools.Roles and responsibilities include:Determine user needs and advise on characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.Research and collaborate with engineers in the utilization of mechanical/electrical product and process simulation software to simulate the characteristics and parameters of products under operating environment.Research capabilities of different tool suites and make recommendations.Provide technical support to application users, working with subject matter experts as needed.Perform tool interoperability and integration testing.Perform client/network installation and configuration of applications.Design and develop utility programs and scripts for automation and deployment.Prepare user instructions and document processes.Provide basic applications and workflow training to users as needed.Support Sector/Corporate Digital Transformation initiatives/goals involving MBSE tools, practices, processes and integration.This position may be filled at a higher level based on the qualifications listed below.Basic Qualifications for a Principal / Level 3:Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant professional experience OR Master's degree and 3 years of experience.Fundamental understanding of mechanics for structural, thermal and CFD analysis.Experience with 3D modeling CAD systems such as NX, SolidWorks or Creo.Experience with any of the following 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools:ANSYS MechanicalANSYS FluentANSYS IcepakAutodesk CFDSTAR-CCM+CFD++Simcenter 3D Structural/ThermalHypermesh/AbaqusPatran/NastranTeamcenterBasic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal / Level 4:Bachelor's degree and 9 years of relevant professional experience OR Master's degree and 7 years of experience.Fundamental understanding of mechanics for structural, thermal and CFD analysis.Experience with 3D modeling CAD systems such as NX, SolidWorks or Creo.Experience with any of the following 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools:ANSYS MechanicalANSYS FluentANSYS IcepakAutodesk CFDSTAR-CCM+CFD++Simcenter 3D Structural/ThermalHypermesh/AbaqusPatran/NastranTeamcenterPreferred Qualifications:Extensive experience with tools such as ANSYS Mechanical, Icepak, Fluent, Nastran, SINDA, Thermal Desktop, Patran, Simcenter 3D, FEMAP, Matlab, etc.Experience with Simulation Process Data Management applications such as Teamcenter TC4Sim, ANSYS Minerva, Aras SPDM, etc.Experience with Model-Based Engineering tools as Cameo, ModelCenter and DOORS.Familiarity with SySML and/or UML.Experience with Agile/collaborative tools such as Jira and Confluence.Python programming experience.Experience working in Linux environment, or demonstrated aptitude to learn and gain experience writing batch files and Linux shell scripts.Experience providing technical support in an engineering environmentSalary Range: 87800 - 131600Salary Range 2: 108900 - 163300Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
