We use a variety of programming languages and tools to create analytic solutions, often fitting within our clients' environment and needs.Summary of Position:As a Software Developer II you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deployment, documentation, maintenance, and enhancements of complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. These systems might include, but are not limited to, processing intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, business management information systems, and systems which incorporate data repositories, data transport services, and application and systems development and monitoring.Essential Functions:Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any projectReviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test resultsDesign and development of relational and non-relational database applicationsUtilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environmentProvides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Open-Source Software (OSS) and/or Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software componentsAnalyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirementsDebug existing software and correct defectsDesign and code new software or modify existing software to add new featuresWrite or review software and system documentationIntegrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environmentsDevelop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositoriesExperience developing in UnixAbility to perform shell scriptingWorking knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) tools and Web Services implementationJob Specifications/Requirements:Requires an ACTIVE Top Secret/ SCI w. Poly clearanceMaster's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus three (3) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity OR Seven (7) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.Demonstrated hands-on software development experience with Java in a Unix environmentExperience with Apache TomcatExperience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDBExperience using Apache NiFi to process and distribute dataExperience with Corporate data flow processes and toolsExperience with Spring FrameworkDesired SkillsExperience with containerization technologies such as DockerExperience with container orchestration technologies such as KubernetesExperience with Elastic StackExperience using the Atlassian product suite (Confluence, Jira)Experience with Git version controlAbout Elder Research, IncElder Research is a fast-growing consulting firm specializing in predictive analytics.
