Position Summary:As a Shop Lead Technician, you are responsible for shop operations for a specific shift or location, diagnosing and performing repairs and daily preventive maintenance on all company assets on an as needed basis. Along with all daily shop activities which includes repairs, administration, organization, scheduling, monitoring, training, warranty repair and evaluation of maintenance and repair services.Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customersAdheres to safety guidelines in performing all job functions and duties.Plan schedule and assign maintenance work/activities of the maintenance shop.Oversee daily PM maintenance for the fleet with little to or no supervision and in a timely mannerPerform maintenance on fleet equipment on an as needed basis to include major and minor engine repairs and any other repairs needed to meet customer's delivery schedules.Assist Fleet Shop Manager to assure that all documentation is complete for the shop/personnel (Track warranty claims).Ensure shop cleanliness and safety.Schedule and arrange any outsourced 3rd party repairs, to include estimates as well as services rendered. Understand and manage the shop monthly budgets.Oversee the parts room operations and monthly inventory requirements.Manage road calls and assist customers with roadside servicesAssure that all safety program requirements are being fulfilled.Provide guidance and training for all hourly mechanics to assure that all repairs are completed correctly and in a timely manner.Develop opportunities for waste reduction, downtime analysis and process improvements.Daily communication with operations teams on available assets, asset needed for repairs, operator education and assistance.Ability to work a flexible schedule to include some nights, weekends or holidaysAll other duties as assignedRequired Skills and Experience:High School Diploma or GED.Post-Secondary Vocational Education strongly preferred.Minimum of 1 year or recent experience working with diagnostic computer.Minimum 4 years related experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment and demonstrates proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of - with some assistance: Engines (gas and diesel), Power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, PTO's and wheel ends, Electrical systems including starters and alternators, Steering systems, Electronics to include ECM's, ECU's, sensors etc., Engine bolt on items such as turbos, fan clutches, injectors, cooling system etc., Brake systems including ABS, Suspension systems (spring and air).Valid CDL (License A) is highly desired; mandatory in some locationsValid Driver's License to operate applicable company vehiclesAcceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.Solid computer skills, analytical, organizational, problem solving, communication, and customer service skills.Must provide own tools (have minimum tool requirement).Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent customer service skillsAbility to frequently lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 50 pounds, occasionally lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 100 poundsSome travel may be requiredAbility to read and speak English sufficiently to be able to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and recordsThis position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsPreferred Skills and Experience:ASE Certifications (Including Master Medium- Heavy Truck Technician) - Willingness to acquireTrade school diploma or certificationCommercial Driver's License preferred.Physical Demands and Work Environment:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
