Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Successful candidates for this position will work in a lead technical role for a space program in Dulles VA, in the National Security Space business area within the Space Systems Sector.This Systems Engineering role is responsible for leading the Systems Engineering technical team, which includes the following duties: systems analysis and trades, coordinating Vehicle Systems engineering activities, engineering baseline management, interface management, requirements/V&V management, subcontractor technical oversight, CAM/EVMS duties, preparing/presenting SE material at all major reviews and PMR's and interfacing with the customer and SETA's on all space segment technical issues.The responsibilities include both individual-contributor and leadership roles, within a multi-disciplined engineering team. Successful candidate will also be called upon to support other activities, including architecture studies, mission support, and traditional Systems Engineering functions. In this lead role, the Lead Systems Engineer is expected to be self-directed using previous experience to lead design, analysis and execution efforts. Candidates must be able to recognize and mitigate technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on schedule.Duties/Responsibilities:Lead/Provide major support to the entire program technical team.Lead and optimize space vehicle design, processing and mission success.Troubleshoot and develop solutions to complex problems that the program may encounter.Develop, author and/or provide input to major program data products and other deliverables.Technical management of program elementsPlanning and conduct of technical reviews and technical baselineWriting status and technical performance reviews and reportsMentor, coach, train, guide, direct and advise junior staff The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.Basic Qualifications:Must have US Citizenship with a current or active Top Secret level clearance and the ability to obtain SCI level accessThis position requires a BS degree in Engineering, Science or related technical field and at least 9 years of applicable experience, an MS Degree and 7 years of applicable experience, or a PhD Degree and 4 years of applicable experience.Systems engineering experiencePreferred Qualifications:Experience with a space development programExperience presenting to customersExperience working with a cross-discipline teamSalary Range: 125488 - 188232Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
