POSITION DESCRIPTION Wide Angle is currently seeking an exceptional candidate for the role of Education Manager to oversee the educational programs department of Wide Angle Youth Media. As the Education Manager, your duties include managing curriculum development in collaboration with teaching staff and staff implementation of that curriculum. In this role, you will work closely with the Deputy Director, the Workforce Manager, teaching, recruitment, and student support staff. This position requires administrative skills as well as excellent communication abilities, and experience with day-to-day education needs. This position will also oversee and manage up to three supporting staff members. REPORTS TO: Deputy Director STATUS: Full Time Exempt APPLY BY: December 17, 2021 START DATE: February 1, 2021 CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Co-manage with Workforce Manager, under the supervision of the Deputy Director, Wide Angle's overall media programs, special projects, events, and the annual Community Voices exhibitions. Provide collaborative leadership in partnership with the Workforce Manager of curriculum development and facilitation throughout the program year. Implement long-range plans, goals, objectives, and schedules for each core program that align with agency mission and vision. Collaborate with the Deputy Director and the Workforce Manager to coordinate and manage all seasonal and community partnerships, including (but not limited to) scheduling, creating and carrying out agreements and collaborations, recruiting, developing curriculum, and reviewing equipment and/or supply needs. Work with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, and Development Director to develop case statements for core programs and new opportunities. PROGRAM STAFF SUPERVISION Work with the Deputy Director to update job position descriptions for recurring and new Program positions and oversee new Program staff recruitment efforts. In partnership with Deputy Director, Workforce Manager, and Admin and Operations Specialist, hire necessary part-time teaching staff and program interns. Manage in partnership with Workforce Manager any instructor or student issues that arise, respond appropriately, and resolve all conflicts - including those with parents - in a timely manner with professionalism and tact. Monitor and review timesheets of direct reports of program staff bi-weekly. Facilitate weekly mentor/instructor meetings with assigned direct reports. Plan and facilitate collaboratively with Workforce Manager weekly Program meetings. Meet programming partners with the Workforce Manager to address issues for interns/staff affiliated with a special program (CIIP, CAC, Baltimore Corps, Sondheim, etc.). ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION: Assist the Deputy Director in management functions, in partnership with the Workforce Manager (such as conducting one-on-ones with assigned supervisees, co-leading weekly Programs teams meetings, assisting with onboarding of new Programs team members, etc). Co-manage all program documents with Workforce Manager on the organization's server and our online program management software, Better Impact, and archive all critical materials including photographs, evaluation, and final media products. PROGRAM REPORTING Submit timely and accurate program reports to the Development Director and Grants Specialist for grant reporting purposes. Work with the Development and Communications Director and the Workforce Manager to implement the communications and public relations strategy, and develop methods by which to best communicate the organization's mission, programs, and achievements to diverse audiences. QUALIFICATIONS 4+ years of progressive experience in curriculum development, supervision, and teaching. Proven effectiveness in collaboration, partnership development, and programs strategy and implementation. Superior organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-starter and adept at both working independently and collaboratively. Flexibility to adjust priorities to meet deadlines, juggle multiple assignments, and work in a dynamic environment. Exceptional interpersonal skills for collaborating with or leading staff and external partners. Understanding creative youth development is preferred.
