Work days/hours: M - Friday 10pm - 6:30am (3rd shift) Autopak Technician Job Overview Reports directly to Engineering Manager or reports to Production Supervisor. This role includes machine operator responsibility and maintenance of AutoPak equipment. This includes performs routine set up, operation, minor and major routine maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting for the AutoPak area. Must project positive attitude with good team skills. Effectively works in a team setting, supporting team goals and objectives. Make effective decisions relative to position requirements. Uses judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve in performance of all maintenance tasks. Job Responsibilities Performs routine set up, operation, minor and major routine maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting of highly complex/automated manufacturing equipment. Controls and adjusts machine settings for AutoPak equipment Responsibilities include production, quality, downtime and waste levels of machine operation. Perform mechanical, pneumatic and electrical maintenance (including preventive) repairs, adjustments, inspection and monitoring of production and/or facilities related equipment and machinery. Works within standards and operating procedures to plan, perform, and make decisions regarding the set up and operations of a variety of production equipment, including automated machine processes and controls to perform routine assembly-line production functions of filling, packing, assembling, labeling and inspecting Independently run multiple lines including setting up and managing change overs Provides operator support all across the assigned business operation. Must have the capability and flexibility to provide support where is needed. May perform clean up functions in sterilized areas and evaluate charts, follows simple diagrams, testing, and inspecting procedures Conducts root-cause analysis activities for process or product exceptions May monitor quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Ensures accurate documentation of all relevant quality, safety, and maintenance documents. Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves complex issues associated with the machine performance and/or product quality. Works with general supervision. Works with external contractors and vendor as needed Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures Must follow all BD safety policies and procedures Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED & Certificate and 2 years of experience in relevant field High School Diploma or GED with 4 years relevant experience required Relevant Fields: Electrical / Electronics Technician, Electromechanical Technician, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Industrial Programmer, Electrician, Machine Builder / Repairer, Machinist, Refrigeration Mechanic, Welding Repairer Additional experience PREFERRED: o Troubleshooting of Industrial Control Systems (instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, vfd, servo etc.) o Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of PLC operations, robotics, and vision systems. o -Mechanical design (AutoCad, Solidworks, etc.) o SAP maintenance module or equivalent computerized system (welding) o Basic skills in use of mill, lathe, welding, bearing press Knowledge/Basic Skills: Time management skills required to ensure all tasks are completed without delay Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to work with various teams Mechanical, pneumatic and electrical skills, must analyze, troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and machinery. Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams and equipment specifications. Flexible and adaptable in working with/on a variety of equipment, processes, projects or assignments. Understanding and use of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments essential. Constant mental and visual attention performing moderately complex work requiring close limits of accuracy and tolerances. Must be knowledgeable in the following areas: o Use of a PC including MS Excel & MSWord. o Demonstrate mechanical aptitude o Demonstrate electrical aptitude o Demonstrate hydraulics, pneumatics aptitude o Ability to use multimeter o Sensor technology o Basic plumbing (fluid and pneumatic) o Power transmission (gear box, motors, belt and chain drives) -Basic machining o Electrical troubleshooting of circuits from low level signals up to 480 VAC.
