If this sounds like the choice you want to make, then choose MITRE-and make a difference with us. MITRE's Enterprise Computing, Information, and Security Center is seeking a Lead Splunk Engineer. This position is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a motivated technical candidate looking to be part of a collaborative team that provides enterprise logging services. The candidate will create Splunk knowledge objects (dashboards, alerts, etc.) for a wide variety of use cases, including compliance, IT operations, application monitoring, etc. and will provide Splunk advocacy within the organization. The role also includes using Cribl LogStream to filter and route incoming log data. Responsibilities include: Creating Splunk searches, reports, dashboard, alerts, etc. for various users Working with existing and custom Splunk applications/add-ons to fulfill customer needs Being co-service manager for Splunk, which includes making sure users understand and can easily request services and working closely with the architect/admin team to ensure those services are reliable, etc. Advocating Splunk's business value to the rest of the organization Using, operating, and maintaining Cribl LogStream to effectively filter and route log data Minimum Qualifications: Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably with a technical major such as engineering, computer science, etc. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Splunk knowledge object development skills, including designing and creating Splunk searches, reports, dashboards, alerts, etc. using SPL and XML. Strong customer service skills Self-motivated, curious, and collaborative, with a passion for learning new technologies and expertise Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance Preferred Qualifications: Experience using and deploying Splunk applications and technical add-ons A general understanding of Splunk architecture, administration, and/or Linux admin experience Some familiarity with Splunk's common information model and how to leverage it Experience with Cribl LogStream or similar tools that filter and route IT log data Basic knowledge of data analysis, statistics, and data visualization General software development/programming skills Strong written and oral communication skills, to include the ability to effectively develop user-facing documentation This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s): Secret This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): Secret MITRE requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
