Save the Children complies with federal, state, and local laws with regard to accommodations related to this policySummaryThe Managing Director for Global Development Policy will oversee Save the Children's policy portfolio relating to global health, development and gender and US foreign assistance. This position will also oversee Save the Children's policy research and overall congressional relations outreach and strategy. You will report to the Associate Vice President for Government Relations and will lead a team responsible for executing the sector specific plans and strategies. You'll lead the development of policy and advocacy strategies, producing measurable results in the legislative and executive branch arenas, and coordinating our global development policy work with our international programs division, other teams within government relations, global Save the Children offices, US and international coalition partners, and other leaders in the global development policy, advocacy, and programmatic community.What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)Manage and prioritize global development, health and gender policy and advocacy portfolio, leading the agenda setting, development and implementation of issue strategies. (60%)Create, coordinate, and advance Save the Children's global development, health and gender policy agenda and implement that agenda with the global development policy staff.Manage Save the Children's overall foreign assistance strategy with the lead for global budget and appropriationsProvide regular guidance and advice to members of the global development policy team on achieving policy and advocacy goals; communicate closely and regularly with the AVP of PAC on progress toward goals as well as potential impediments.Establish relations with key congressional and administration staff as neededPromote and develop new opportunities for Hill and Administration engagement on our portfolio of issues and overall foreign assistance.Represent Save the Children in global policy coalitions and lead coalition efforts as needed.Coordinate relevant staff within Save the Children International Programs division, the global humanitarian and democracy, rights and governance team, and Save the Children international groups as needed.Handle critical legislative and/or administration or multilateral policy developments, as they arise.Manage the global development policy team and serve on the Government Relations Senior Management Team (20%)Manage a team of policy and advocacy staff dedicated to global health, development and gender policy.Hire, train and manage global development policy staff.Oversee staff job performance. Work with each to set annual performance and development goals, address any issues that may arise, and compete mid-year and annual performance reviews.Serve on the Government Relations Senior Management Team, working with colleagues to coordinate Save the Children US engagement across policy teams and to achieve strategic and campaign goals.Monitoring, accountability and administrative.
