Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Your OpportunityWe're looking for an experienced remote Senior Software Developer to join our Applied Intelligence product development group. You'll be embedded in an engineering team that provides a highly scalable, reliable, configurable, and extensible evaluation pipeline capable of 100s of millions of data points every minute. This pipeline can perform sophisticated evaluations on any kind of well-formed time series data New Relic collects.If you're ready for this job, you'll have worked with high-availability, high-scale, production systems. You'll have a solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are energized by delivering customer value and developing high-quality software solutions!What You'll DoCollaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and other partners to frame problems within the business and product contextContribute to the product technical design, architecture, and implementation of our backend componentsDesign, implement, observe and scale high visibility microservices that consume and annotate usage data from our customersDebug and fix problems that come with operating a large scale distributed system including dealing with conditions, concurrency, and performanceShip high-quality code incrementally and often, balancing operational needs with new feature developmentIn your first month, you willUnderstand your team's workflows, constraints, roles, ceremonies, purpose, and needs from the business.Familiarize yourself with your team's services, learning about the service catalog your team is responsible forContribute to the active development your team is focusing onIn your first three months, you will:Become familiar with the Alerting product and the evaluation pipeline through our onboarding program, pairing with your peers, and independent studyGain a deeper understanding of how your team fits into the larger organization and work closely with partners and stakeholders.Learn the operational aspects of the role and participate in your team's on-call rotation.Take on more complex engineering work and participate fully in design discussions.Your QualificationsMust-have:4+ years of professional experience developing software in Java/JVMExperience with Apache Kafka or other data pipeline technologies (Spark, RabbitMQ, Hadoop, etc.)Demonstrated experience in designing, developing and testing scalable distributed systemsAbility to go deep on the command-line and fix things when they're brokenCollaborative working style that includes colleagues in significant decisions and leads to team code ownershipNice-to-have:3+ years of experience developing and operating within a 24x7 SaaS business.Experience with DevOps test and deployment tools (CI/CD, Ansible, Terraform, Packer, Kubernetes)Experience with Groovy/Gradle/SpockExperience writing software for the public Cloud, preferably AWSKnowledge of databases (Postgres, MySQL) and query languagesBS in Computer SciencePlease note that visa sponsorship is not available for this positionWe will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
