JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:Under direct supervision, prepares hot and cold food items for patients, employees, staff and visitors in accordance with established recipes and menus. Measures and mixes food ingredients; using grills, kitchen utensils and equipment and tests food in order to determine if done.Education High School Diploma or equivalent.Experience 2 years experience as a cook in order to be knowledgeable and skilled in various production cooking techniques and standard recipes.SkillsSkill in oral communication.Ability to read and write, understand and follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to work well under time constraints and to work effectively as a team member.Ability to perform basic cooking skillsKnowledge of food waste reductionKnowledge of HACCP corrective actions for food-borne illnessLicensures, CertificationsPhysical RequirementsAbility to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.Ability to stand for approximately sixty percent (60%) of work time and to bend, lift, pull and push weights of up toWorking ConditionsNormal kitchen environment with frequent exposure to disagreeable temperatures and high noise levels.Occasional exposure to hazards such as cuts, burns and bruises due to working with kitchen utensils (including knives) and equipment.Location: GBMC HealthCare A' .
