If this sounds like the choice you want to make, then choose MITRE"A cents € and make a difference with us.The Threat, Intelligence, and Policy Department, within the MITRE Center for Securing the Homeland (CSH), applies broad Homeland Security, Intelligence, and Federal Law Enforcement expertise, a deep understanding of operational tradecraft, and a deep understanding of our sponsors' challenges to develop and advance innovative sociotechnical solutions which enable current and future homeland security operations from the tactical to the enterprise levels. The CSH provides systems engineering and integration support to planning, programming, acquisition (including concept exploration and early prototyping), and evaluation of capabilities for Homeland Security.We are looking for candidates with established skills in two or more Systems Engineering areas who understand how to apply them to the full system life cycle. We are looking for candidates who can apply appropriate systems engineering methods, processes, and tools (MPTs) to solving homeland security challenges. The Homeland Security Systems Engineer will help in defining architectures, requirements, and conceptual designs and in performing verification and validation.Job Responsibilities:Provide systems engineering technical expertise required to plan, design, acquire, integrate, and deploy homeland security capabilities and enabling technology. Enable the homeland security enterprise to deliver timely and actionable support to operational missions through the following:Contribute to teams with expertise in one or more of the following systems engineering practice areas: system life-cycle management, requirements engineering, systems architecture, system design, quality management, test and evaluation, and process analysis and improvement.Be able to interface with technical experts and leaders in MITRE organizations or with MITRE sponsors and build trusted relationships.Collaborate and participate in activities to ensure knowledge creation/sharing and integration within and across all work programs as appropriate.Support MITRE's efforts to develop work programs with new sponsorsPromote the advancement and application of model-based engineering, complex systems engineering, systems-of-systems engineering, and systems thinking.Basic Qualifications:Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.Required Qualifications:Depth in at least 2 systems engineering areas, including integration into full life cyclesStrong written and oral communications skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to work well in teams and independentlyProficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including Work, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and VisioPreferred Qualifications:Advanced degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related Mathematics, Information Technology, or Engineering fieldExperience working with one or more DHS componentsTask/project management or technical lead experience.Coaching and mentoring skillsAbility to engage and cultivate trusted relationshipsEngineering support for proposal evaluationsThis requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):Top SecretThis requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):Top Secret/SCIMITRE requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
