Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Successful candidates for this position will be a Manager of Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) Engineers within the Tactical Space Division at Northrop Grumman Space Systems. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting space flight programs designed to further Human Exploration and Operations (HEO) beyond Low Earth Orbit. The Manager is responsible for leading a multi-disciplined team of engineers to develop, design, analyze and oversee the production, test and operation of complete ECLSS solutions for spacecraft systems. The integrated team will be comprised of designers, analysts and component engineers to be able to support all of the aspects of the engineering, production and operation lifecycles of the spacecraft systems under TSD. The Manager is expected to develop advanced technological ideas which guides their development into a final product as well as maintain a team capable of completing mission goals established by the division's strategy. The Manager is expected to work under consultative direction from the Engineering Directorate toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self- initiated. The Manager is expected to determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Completed tasks are checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of a superior. The Manager is expected to represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects when an ECLSS solution is requested and to interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations for all ECLSS related matters.Essential Functions:Provide support to the engineering directorate within TSSD to advise on current ECLSS capabilities.Maintain a talented team of ECLSS engineers which can support all aspects of the hardware lifecycle.Generate requisitions and actively participate in recruiting talent for ECLSS work.Technical management of major subcontracted or in-house produced ECLSS elements.Support contractual space segment technical reviews which require ECLSS solutions.Responsible to write monthly status and technical performance reviews and reports for all programs which utilize ECLSS solutionsCandidate Must Possess the Following Skills:Ability to support requirement development of ECLSS designs.Ability to develop Concept of Operations for ECLSS designs.Ability to evaluate ECLSS systems in order to best meet program objectives.Ability to develop ECLSS verification and validation plans.Ability to develop and manage ECLSS interfaces to integrate within a spacecraft design.Demonstrate a broad understanding of ECLSS designs within a space environment.Ability to support identification and mitigation of program level risks relating to ECLSS designBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Engineering field with a preference for Aerospace - 10 or more years of applicable experience in a technical field with a preference of production or hardware development in the Aerospace industry.Hands-on ECLSS systems experience.Proficiency in related engineering programs, Microsoft Office or equivalent document generation programs, Microsoft SharePoint or equivalent collaboration tool, Matlab or equivalent computational tool.Preferred Qualifications:Either self-experience or experience interfacing with team members in any of the following fields: Command and Data Handling design and development / Electrical design at a card, component or system level - FPGA / Processor design and development / Software design and development.Power distribution system design and development - Both High and Low Voltage Bus DesignMechanical design and development - Understanding of both launch loads as well as space docking loads - Understanding of gas and pneumatic flow wrt environmental life support.Thermal control system design and development - Thermal control techniques in both a vacuum and/or ambient condition.Automotive and motor or mechanism design and development.Experience in development and maintenance of interface control documents.Experience in ECLSS testing and evaluation.Salary Range: 110352 - 191664Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
