Annapolis Allergy & Asthma is looking for an extremely detail-oriented, highly responsible, ethical, trustworthy, capable, and dependable medical assistant to join their back-office team. This person should already have working experience handling adult and pediatric patients, be able to perform procedures accurately and efficiently with sterile technique in a calming, reassuring nature, and document the procedure accurately in the medical record. Familiarity with EMR is important. We are seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced position, multitasking in different areas of the office. The position requires a high level of responsibility and attention to detail; accuracy and patient safety comes first.Having allergy experience is helpful, but not necessary; we will train the right person in a variety of allergy procedures. There is some phone triage, but this is primarily a procedure-based position. You will work as part of the team, so communication skills are important. Ultimately the goal is for you to perform these tasks independently.Basic tasks include knowledgeably interviewing patients, doing vital signs, pulse ox, FeNO, and rooming patients. In the shot area, you will administer SQ and IM injections while also being carefully monitoring the waiting room, observing COVID compliance, but also quickly identifying patients with allergic reactions, bringing them to the treatment area, and notifying and assisting the provider in treating these reactions. Should be able to reassure anxious patients and families during all procedures in a HIPAA compliant manner. The position requires daily performance of allergy skin testing for foods, aeroallergens, and venom (bees) via prick and intradermal tests, spirometry, patch testing, food challenges. These need to be done accurately and safely in a timely manner, followed by detailed documentation in the medical record. As the candidate reliably demonstrates their ability to perform these procedures over time, we are hoping they can be given more complex tasks, such as ordering extract supplies and fill allergy serum recipes.Job Type: Full-timePay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hourBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceFree parkingHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridayCOVID-19 considerations:Patients are all scheduled; there are no walk-ins.
