Duties

  • Serves as the official spokesperson for the BLM Office and ensures agency policies, programs and actions are appropriately communicated to others.
  • Plans, leads, coordinates and implements a strategic and dynamic new media and web presence based on industry trends, best practices, and forward-looking communication technologies.
  • Functions as a member of the Leadership Team in evaluating, advising and planning for implementation of policies and decisions on management of public lands and their resources.
  • Responsible for adhering to the policies, procedures, and processes, needed to develop, implement, and sustain the agency?s internal and external website and social media presence.
  • Develops and evaluates policies for printed material and ensures printed materials comply with BLM and Government Printing Office standards. Approves publications in both traditional and digital formats.
  • In support of the State Director, BLM Director and the Secretary of the Interior, prepares congressional testimony, briefing materials, witness briefings and follow-up questions for the record.
  • Manages and responds to all Congressional and other elected official correspondence received.

For GS-14: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: experience developing targeted scale social media campaigns and utilizing a diverse array of social media platforms to communicate information about agency programs, policies, initiatives and other relevant information to the public.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
